UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard: Earn 4.4 mpd on dining, food delivery, groceries and pharmacies

Expired

Register now and earn up to 4.4 mpd on dining, food delivery, groceries and pharmacy spend for the rest of 2021.

UOB has launched a new bonus miles offer for the UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard, which allows registered cardholders to earn up to 4.4 mpd on online and mobile contactless payments at dining, food delivery, grocery and pharmacy merchants.

Unlike the previous offer for food delivery, entertainment and shopping which lapsed on 31 August 2021, UOB PRVI Miles Visa cardholders are not included. That said, UOB tends to run PRVI Miles promotions in pairs (or threes, considering the PRVI Miles AMEX), so I’d keep an eye out for more news.

💳 tl;dr: Offer Details

Earn 4.4 mpd with the UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard

From 1 September to 31 December 2021, UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard members can earn 4.4 mpd on online and mobile contactless spending at dining, food delivery, grocery and pharmacy merchants.

Registration is required, and can be done by sending the following SMS to 77862:

📱 SMS to 77862
PM<space>Last 4 alphanumeric digits of NRIC/Passport
e.g. PM 567A

There is no cap on the number of cardholders who can register. Once registered, cardholders who spend at least S$1,000 in eligible transactions (defined below) during the entire promotional period will earn up to 4.4 mpd as follows:

  Base Bonus Total
SGD Spending UNI$3.5 per S$5
(1.4 mpd)
UNI$7.5 per S$5
(3 mpd)
UNI$11 per S$5
(4.4 mpd)

The maximum bonus you can earn is capped at UNI$6,000, or S$4,000 of eligible spending during the entire promotion period.

Eligible transactions must be made in Singapore dollars via online or mobile contactless payment at any of the following MCCs:

Category MCC
🛒 Grocery 5411, 5499
(e.g. NTUC FairPrice, Sheng Siong)
💊 Pharmacy 5310, 5331, 5399, 5912
(e.g. Watsons, Unity)
🍽️ Dining & Food Delivery 5811, 5812, 5814, 5441, 5462
(e.g. Food Panda, McDonald’s)

For avoidance of doubt, tapping the physical card for payment will not constitute an eligible transaction- you’ll need to digitize your card via Apple Pay, Fitbit Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay.

If you’re uncertain about the MCC of a particular merchant, you can always look it up via the Visa Supplier Locator.

Bonus UNI$ will be credited to your account by 31 March 2022

Be careful of SMART$ merchants

Not a place to use your UOB card

While grocery stores and pharmacies are included under this promotion, UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard members should be careful to avoid spending at:

  • Cold Storage
  • GIANT
  • Guardian
  • Jasons
  • Market Place

That’s because these merchants fall under the SMART$ programme, which means that cardholders will earn SMART$ (basically cashback) instead of UNI$. The rate isn’t even that good- you’ll receive a mere 0.3% rebate at Cold Storage and Giant, for example.

It used to be the case that online transactions at SMART$ merchants would qualify for UNI$, but I’ve read several data points saying this may no longer be the case. Proceed with caution.

However, there’s a possible workaround. By pairing your UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard with the Instarem Amaze, you *should* (caveat: untested) be able to earn 4.4 mpd plus 1% cashback. The simple reason is that the MCC remains the same (supermarket/pharmacy), but the merchant description is changed to add an AMAZE* prefix.

For more information on how this works, refer to this post, or read the full Amaze card review.

Conclusion

While there’s a S$1,000 minimum spend threshold to clear, UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard members should find this a very useful way of racking up 4.4 mpd on up to S$4,000 of eligible spending. This can help conserve the 4 mpd cap on alternatives like the HSBC Revolution and UOB Preferred Platinum Visa,

Just remember that payments must be made online or via mobile contactless; there’ll be no bonus for you if you tap the physical card.

James

But seeing that the miles will only be given in Mar 2022, it would also be unable to be proven to work till it is too late right? or is there a way to check before hand?

James

just would like to follow up if anyone tried it and it works? couldn’t try as my card still has not arrived

bluepanda

I registered but the return sms says “Thank you for your interest….” In previous promos, there is a positive confirmation of “Your registration …. is successful…..”

How?

Jessica Lawrence

Towkay

Mcc 5399 is quite wide. Would it work for non grocery transactions like lazada shopee etc

D K

Got an invite from HSBC – giving up to 10 + 10 bonus rewards point for all transactions, no minimum spend but capped at 10,000 bonus reward points. Probably a better deal 🙂

James

Pair with fairprice app? Consider both online and groceries?

Adam

If you pair this card with the Amaze card and used it for dining, will it be considered as online spend & qualify?
