Earn 8% cashback on groceries

Earn 8% cashback on online and offline grocery shopping

On 9 September 2021, DBS and POSB cardmembers will enjoy an extra 8% cashback when shopping online or offline at any merchant with MCC 5411 Grocery Shops & Supermarkets.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • NTUC FairPrice
  • NTUC FairPrice XTRA
  • FairPrice Finest
  • Cold Storage
  • Don Don Donki
  • Giant
  • Isetan
  • Jasonโ€™s Market Place
  • Koryo Mart
  • Marks & Spencer
  • Meidi-ya
  • Phoon Huat
  • Prime Supermarket
  • Scoop Wholefoods
  • Sheng Siong
  • Tesco
  • Redmart
  • Song Fish
  • Amazinโ€™ Grace
  • CP Food
Note: Ordering groceries from third party providers such as Foodpanda, Grab and Shopee will not be included as Online and Offline Grocery Spend

I’ve further clarified with DBS that Amazon Fresh also qualifies. Buying NTUC or Cold Storage vouchers will also trigger the cashback, so long as the MCC codes as 5411. If you’re in doubt about the MCC of a particular merchant, it’s possible to look it up using the Visa Supplier Locator.

No minimum spend is required, and the maximum cashback is capped at S$8 per cardmember (regardless of how many DBS/POSB cards he/she has). In other words, you’ll max out this promotion with S$100 of spending. There is no cap on the maximum number of eligible cardholders.

This 8% cashback is awarded on top of whatever miles you’d normally earn with your DBS/POSB cards, as illustrated below

Card ๐Ÿ›’ Groceries
Cap
Online  Offline
DBS Woman’s World Card
4 mpd 0.4 mpd S$2K per month (online)
DBS Woman’s Card
2 mpd 0.4 mpd S$2K per month (online)
DBS Altitude Visa
1.2 mpd 1.2 mpd N/A
DBS Altitude AMEX
1.2 mpd 1.2 mpd N/A

Do note the transaction date must be on 9 September 2021, but the posting date can be up to 18 September 2021. Most transactions should post within 1-2 working days, in any case.

The 8% cashback will be posted to your card account by 24 September 2021.

Conclusion

You’ll definitely want to buy your groceries online, because the best offline rate you could otherwise manage with a DBS card would be 1.2 mpd on the DBS Altitude Visa.

Unless, of course, you have a (physical) Amaze card, my new best friend. Long story short, Amaze converts offline spend into online spend, so you can pair it with the DBS Woman’s World Card to earn 4 mpd even offline. You’ll even earn 1% cashback too, for good measure.

DBS has additional promo codes available for Amazon Fresh and RedMart, so be sure to check those out too.

Does online shopping via NTUC constitute as ‘online spend’ for DBS WWMC to earn the 4mpd?

Freddy

It should. Their “scan and go” should also count.

every month, I need to call to their CS to appeal. Because their can’t tell my online purchase is “online” or not.
So yes, you can earn 4mpd for NTUC online purchase but you will need to call them after your receive your statement to appeal with valid invoice.

This is strange. I did a $100 transaction at NTUC Fairprice and a $200 transaction at Lazada. The transaction that clocked the rebate under this promo (as shown in my Paylah app) is actually the Lazada one! So Lazada is considered “groceries” apparently.
