HSBC WOW Weekend: 20% off Agoda and staycation deals

Expired

From 12-14 August, save 20% off Agoda and enjoy special deals at PARKROYAL Marina Bay, Orchard Hotel and Grand Copthorne with HSBC cards.

HSBC has announced its latest set of WOW Weekend staycation deals, which run from 12-14 August 2022.

Bookings go live at midnight tonight (i.e. 12 a.m on Friday 12 August), and it’s a slimmer selection this time round, with only three hotels available: Grand Copthorne Waterfront, Orchard Hotel, and PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay.

However, there’s also a flat 20% off Agoda bookings and S$50 off all flights from Singapore to Australia via CheapTickets.sg.

HSBC WOW Weekend Sale

All bookings must be made with a HSBC credit card, and I’d highly recommend using the HSBC Revolution to earn 4 mpd, capped at the first S$1,000 per calendar month.

If you don’t have a HSBC Revolution yet, you can enjoy the following gifts with a minimum spend of S$500 by the end of the month after approval.

HSBC x PRMB Deal
PR Marina Bay Review

HSBC is offering the same deal we saw last month for the PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, where the first 50 bookings pay $430 nett for a COLLECTION Club Room, inclusive of daily breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails for two guests.

If you’re outside the first 50, the rate increases to S$480 nett, with the same inclusions.

Hotel review

Matthew stayed in a regular room at the PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay in June 2021, and I did a separate suite review during National Day that year.

Aesthetically speaking, it’s one of the most gorgeous hotels I’ve ever laid eyes on. The Urban Suite was tastefully decorated, with more than enough space to host a viewing party (just a shame they didn’t show the same kind of love to the bathrooms, which received minimal attention during the renovation).

Breakfast was surprisingly good (after my stay at the PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering I didn’t have very high expectations), and if you’re a GHA member, this can count towards one of the three (yes, three) brands you need to stay in to qualify/requalify for Titanium status.

HSBC x Orchard Hotel Deal

HSBC cardholders will enjoy 10% off the flexible rate with breakfast for two at Orchard Hotel, while members of the free-to-join My Millennium programme will enjoy 22% off. Bookings must be made with the code HSBCMHR

This offer is valid across all room categories, although what strikes me as strange, given that you’re booking the flexible rate, is that the T&Cs state “cancellation or changes are not allowed upon confirmation of reservation”.

Unlike the PARKROYAL discount, there is no cap on the maximum number of customers who can enjoy this deal.

HSBC x Copthorne Hotel Deal

HSBC cardholders will enjoy 10% off the flexible rate with breakfast for two at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, while members of the free-to-join My Millennium programme will enjoy 22% off.

This offer is valid across all room categories, although like the Orchard Hotel offer, it’s odd that the T&Cs state “cancellation or changes are not allowed upon confirmation of reservation”.

20% off Agoda hotel bookings

HSBC x Agoda promotion

From 12-14 August 2022, HSBC cardholders will receive 20% off worldwide hotel bookings made through Agoda, capped at S$200 per booking. All stays must be completed by 31 December 2022.

This is a downgrade from the previous month’s offer (where the discount was 25% off), but still much better than the usual 7%.

All bookings must be made via this link and paid for with a HSBC credit card. This offer only applies to “promotion eligible” hotels, for rates that are fully paid for online. “Promotion eligible” hotels can be identified by a tag on their listing as shown below.

Once you’ve chosen a “promotion eligible” hotel, be sure to book a “promotion eligible” rate too. Remember: any rate which you pay at the hotel is not eligible; you’ll need to pay online via Agoda.

The discount only applies to the room rate (excluding taxes).

It’s always best practice to comparison shop, because Agoda may not give the best price even after a 20% discount. A meta search engine like Google Hotels or Kayak will help ensure you’re scoring a good deal.

A much calmer WOW Weekend this time round, since there’s no need to play fastest fingers first unless you’re looking at the PARKROYAL Marina Bay deal. 20% off Agoda is potentially attractive as well, especially if you plan to stay at a smaller hotel that isn’t part of a major chain.

Let’s hope next week brings a bigger set of deals than this relatively small selection.
