UOB PRVI Miles Cards offering 15,000 miles sign-up bonus (capped)

Expired

From now till 30 September, get 15,000 bonus miles as a new-to-bank customer with S$4,000 spend in the first 60 days- capped at 200 customers.

Back in July, UOB broke character by offering a 12,000 miles sign-up bonus for the UOB PRVI Miles Cards, with no cap on eligibility. This stunning development sent shockwaves through the multiverse, but fortunately, order to the sacred timeline has since been restored.

For the month of September, new UOB PRVI Miles Cardmembers can enjoy a 15,000 miles sign-up bonus, provided they’re among the first 200 eligible customers.

UOB PRVI Miles offering 15,000 miles sign-up bonus

💳 “Highest miles card”

Side note: Am I the only one who finds it funny how UOB needs to keep dividing the market into finer and finer segments so it can retain the marketing tagline of “highest miles card”?

Once upon a time, the disclaimer said:

“”Fastest miles earn rate” is based on the miles earn rates for local and overseas spend, in comparison to other credit cards in Singapore as of 20 June 2017″

It’s now evolved to:

“Highest limitless miles card” refers to the highest miles earn rate on general eligible spending in comparison with other comparable entry-level non-premium miles credit cards in Singapore that award miles with no minimum spend and no cap on miles earned, as of 1 July 2022″

Ah, UOB. Never change.

From 1-30 September 2022, new-to-bank UOB PRVI Miles Card members can enjoy 15,000 bonus miles when they spend S$4,000 within the first 60 days of approval.

❓ New-to-bank
New-to-bank customers are defined as those who do not currently hold a principal UOB credit card, and have not cancelled a UOB PRVI Miles Card within the past 6 months prior to 1 September 2022

This offer applies to all three flavours of the UOB PRVI Miles Card, namely:

The offer is capped at the first 200 eligible applicants. How do you know you’re in the first 200? You don’t. You spend and pray; a classic UOB promotion, more akin to gambling than anything else.

Cap aside, this is an altogether weaker offer than the one in July. Previously, the minimum spending requirement was S$1,500 in the first 30 days, for a bonus of 12,000 miles. UOB has increased the spending requirement by 167% (albeit with 30 more days to spend), while boosting the miles by only 25%.

What counts as qualifying spend?

A minimum of S$4,000 in qualifying spend must be spent in the first 60 days of approval. Eligible transactions include all retail transactions in local or foreign currency, and a full list of exclusions can be found here.

The key exclusions to highlight are:

  • Charitable donations
  • Education
  • Government payments
  • Hospitals
  • Insurance
  • Prepaid account top-ups (e.g. GrabPay or YouTrip)
  • Utilities

Supplementary cardholder spending will be pooled with the principal cardholder’s in determining if the minimum spend has been met. And before you say “isn’t that obvious?”, remember that UOB is not above such shenanigans.

When will the bonus miles be credited?

The 15,000 bonus miles will be credited (in the form of 7,500 UNI$) to your card account by 31 December 2022.

As a reminder, UOB UNI$ can be converted to either KrisFlyer or Asia Miles at a 1 UNI$= 2 miles ratio, with a S$25 conversion fee.

Extra S$30 cash for supplementary cards

UOB is currently offering a S$20 cash credit for the first 150 cardmembers who apply for a supplementary card and make at least three eligible transactions of any amount within the first month.

If you have a UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard supplementary card in particular, you will receive a further S$10 cash credit when making at least three eligible transactions of any amount within the first month, with no cap on eligibility.

Conclusion

The September sign-up bonus for the UOB PRVI Miles Cards returns to its usual “first X” gimmick, with 15,000 bonus miles available to the first 200 applicants who spend S$4,000 in the first 60 days of approval.

If you don’t have a UOB PRVI Miles Card yet, it’s probably better to wait till the next gravitational anomaly that triggers another uncapped sign-up offer.
