HSBC WOW Weekend: Staycation deals at Dusit Thani, M Social and Studio M

HSBC has announced its latest set of WOW Weekend staycation deals, which run from 9-11 September 2022.

Bookings go live at midnight tonight (i.e. 12 a.m on Friday 9 September), and like last month, it’s a slim selection again with only three hotels available: Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore, M Social Singapore, and Studio M.

There’s also 50% off park admission tickets to the Singapore Zoo and River Wonders, if you’re into that sort of thing (not until they bring back the capybara feedings!).

All bookings must be made with a HSBC credit card, and I’d highly recommend using the HSBC Revolution to earn 4 mpd, capped at the first S$1,000 per calendar month.

Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore

The first 50 bookings will pay S$450 nett for a 1-night stay in a Deluxe Laguna Pool View Room, with breakfast and afternoon tea for two guests. 

If you’re outside the first 50, the rate increases to S$500 nett, with the same inclusions. 

Bookings are fully refundable with 48 hours advance notice.

Hotel review

Matthew did a stay at the Dusit Thani back in December 2020 when it soft opened. Quite a bit has changed since then, with the executive club rooms now available for booking (the club lounge still seems elusive; drinks and canapes are served at other dining venues), and other facilities like tennis courts and the sauna now open.

M Social Singapore

HSBC cardholders will enjoy 10% off the flexible rate with breakfast for two at M Social Singapore, while members of the free-to-join My Millennium programme will enjoy 22% off. 

This offer is valid across all room categories, although what strikes me as strange, given that you’re booking the flexible rate, is that the T&Cs state “cancellation or changes are not allowed upon confirmation of reservation”. 

There is no cap on the maximum number of customers who can enjoy this deal.

With Singapore’s borders now fully reopened (even to unvaccinated travellers) and hotel rates hitting 10-year highs, it’s somewhat unsurprising that the WOW Weekend deals of late haven’t been fantastic. 

At least there’ll be no staying up late, since the Dusit Thani offer can be booked by email (compose it beforehand with the code HSBCPVAT2 in the subject line, indicate name, dates, number of guests and contact number, then schedule the message to send on the stroke of midnight), and no caps on the M Social or Studio M deals. 

Be sure to use the HSBC Revolution to get 4 mpd on your hotel stays, capped at S$1,000 per calendar month.
