Singapore Airlines and Klook have unveiled a new partnership that allows KrisFlyer members to earn miles on Klook bookings at a rate of 1 mile per S$1.40 spent. This will be temporarily upsized to 2 miles per S$1.40 spent for all bookings made between 8-21 November 2022.
This comes as a surprise to me, since Singapore Airlines’ own activities platform Pelago is a key competitor for Klook. But I’m not about to question a good thing, especially since you can stack it with a further 4 mpd from credit cards.
Earn KrisFlyer miles with Klook
Klook x KrisFlyer |
KrisFlyer members will now earn 1 KrisFlyer mile per S$1.40 spent sitewide on Klook SG (except for flights, and activities in the non-applicable list- which Klook has not specified), provided they:
- Book through this special link (bookings only available via web browser and not Klook app)
- Enter their membership number at check-out
- Have a Klook account with a Singapore phone number
Curiously enough, Klook also requires your KrisFlyer membership first name- I’d have thought they’d use the last name instead.
To mark the launch, the earn rate will be upsized to 2 KrisFlyer miles per S$1.40 spent for all transactions made between 8-21 November 2022.
The T&Cs state that the additional 1 KrisFlyer mile per S$1.40 awarded is “limited”, but do not specify further what that means. I reached out to Klook to ask, and they told me the number of bonus miles will be capped- but at what, they didn’t specify.
When will miles be credited?
Miles earned from Klook will be credited to a member’s KrisFlyer account two months after the month of booking. For example, a booking made from 1-31 January 2023 will have miles awarded by 31 March 2023.
In other words, this won’t be a quick way of topping up a KrisFlyer account. If you need miles in a jiffy, the options below are much better.
What card should you use with Klook?
Klook transactions code as MCC4722: Travel Agencies & Tour Operators. You can use the following cards to earn an additional 4 mpd on your purchases.
Card | Earn Rate | Remarks |
DBS WWMC Apply |
4.0 mpd | Max S$2K per c. month Review |
HSBC Revolution Apply |
4.0 mpd | Max S$1K per c. month Review |
UOB Lady’s Card Apply |
4.0 mpd | Max S$1K per c. month. Must choose travel as 10X category. Review |
UOB Lady’s Solitaire Apply |
4.0 mpd | Max S$3K per c. month. Must choose travel as 10X category. Review |
Conclusion
Klook’s new partnership offers an incremental 0.71 mpd on all your activity bookings, temporarily increased to 1.42 mpd up till 21 November 2022.
This is a great opportunity to earn up to 5.42 mpd with the right credit cards, while stacking further savings from Klook promo codes and gift cards (I hope you caught the recent ShopBack 50% cashback offer, because that was incredible).
However, there’s an undefined exclusions list, as well as a cap. I wonder why Klook is being so tight-lipped about this, but in any case it’s something to be careful of.
Having to use a unique link means it cannot be combined with Shopback?
If this stacks with Klookโs ongoing 8 mpd DBS Altitude card promo, then one would get 9.42 mpd capped at $200 per travel booking.
yes! slipped my mind. thank you, have added.
Hi for 8 mpd is also valid if book tour via klook ? since DBS Altitude only award for flight/hotel but how Klook differentiate the the booking hotel/flight or tour in Klook. MCC are the same right for Klook ?
Dbs x Altklook promo requires to enter via a dedicated link (it’s a meet all condition)
Sia x klook promo requires their own dedicated link.
In this manner both promo for alt + Sia will not be able to stack ๐
only SINโฆ maybe mention that in the beginning..
Seems the activities are limited to Japan, Taiwan and Thailand only ?
Link cannot work. Keep clicking on the banner that says “click here for the designated page” but it is a perpetual loop back to the same page.
