IHG One Rewards offering 20% off hotel redemptions worldwide

Expired

Book by 20 January and stay by 10 March to enjoy 20% off IHG hotel redemptions worldwide, for Platinum and Diamond members.

IHG One Rewards has launched a new discount on award nights worldwide, with members saving 20% off the regular award costs for all stays booked by 20 January 2023 and stayed by 10 March 2023.

This discount was previously available only to IHG cobrand cardholders, but has now been opened to all IHG Platinum and IHG Diamond members- I’m sure quite a few of you have the latter now!

IHG One’s 20% discount will be automatically reflected at the time of booking; no registration required. If you’re not seeing availability, remember that your stay must be completed by 10 March 2023.

The discount can also be applied to Points & Cash bookings.

There is no cap on the maximum number of points you can save under this promotion. Stays booked under this promotion can be refunded, subject to the usual cancellation windows for award stays.

How to get more IHG points

If this discount still doesn’t get you close enough to your ideal redemption, you can hope that IHG runs another of its points sales soon.

IHG typically offers a 100% bonus during sales, which reduces the cost of a point to 0.5 US cents each. The most recent sale ended on 30 December 2022, but these come by fairly frequently.

Alternatively, you can transfer credit card points from Citibank and Standard Chartered.

  • 25,000 Citi ThankYou points = 10,000 IHG points
  • 10,000 Citi Miles= 10,000 IHG Points
  • 2,500 SCB points= 1,000 IHG points

The conversion ratio isn’t great though, especially when you consider the opportunity cost. Those bank points would be much more valuable as airline miles instead.

Conclusion

IHG One Rewards is offering 20% off award nights worldwide to Platinum and Diamond members, which is a good opportunity to save some points on an upcoming booking. No registration is required, and there is no cap on the maximum points you can save.

The main constraint is the short window- unless you’re staying by 10 March 2023, you won’t be able to enjoy this offer.
