OCBC VOYAGE offering 30,000 miles sign-up bonus

Expired

From now till 31 March 2023, get 30,000 miles with a new OCBC VOYAGE Card and a minimum spend of S$2,500.

OCBC has launched a new sign-up offer for the OCBC VOYAGE Card that’s good for applications till 31 March 2023. New cardholders who spend S$2,500 in the first month and pay the first year’s annual fee will receive 30,000 bonus miles.

Unfortunately, this isn’t quite as good as the previous offer which ended on 30 November 2022 (30,000 bonus miles with payment of the annual fee; no minimum spend required). Nonetheless, it’s still double the usual 15,000 miles that cardholders receive, and worth considering if you have S$2,500 of spend to make anyway.

From 1 February to 31 March 2023, customers who apply for an OCBC VOYAGE Card, pay the S$492.50 annual fee and spend at least S$2,500 within the qualifying period and will receive 30,000 miles as follows:

  • 15,000 miles for paying the S$492.50 annual fee
  • 15,000 miles for spending at least S$2,500 within the qualifying period

The qualifying period refers to “one full calendar month from card account opening month”. For example, if the card opening date is 15 February 2023, then the qualifying period will be from 15 February to 31 March 2023. In other words, you should apply early in the month to give yourself the most time to meet the minimum spend.

This offer is open to both new and existing OCBC cardholders, provided they have not cancelled an OCBC VOYAGE Card within the past three months. In other words, holding another OCBC credit card such as the OCBC Titanium Rewards will not disqualify you, in and of itself.

When will bonus miles be credited?

The 30,000 miles will be credited within three months from the end of the qualifying period.

For example, if your card is approved on 15 February 2023 and you meet the minimum spend by 31 March 2023, you can expect the bonus miles to be credited by 30 June 2023.

What counts as qualifying spend?

A full list of exclusions can be found in the VOYAGE Card’s T&Cs (at point 1.4), but the key ones to highlight are:

  • Charitable donations
  • Educational institutions
  • Government transactions
  • GrabPay top-ups
  • Insurance premiums
  • Public hospitals
  • Utilities bills

What can you do with VOYAGE Miles?

The bonus will be awarded in the form of 30,000 VOYAGE Miles, which can be converted into KrisFlyer miles at a 1:1 ratio. Transfers used to be free of charge, but ever since 1 February 2023 a S$25 fee applies.

OCBC plans to add an additional eight transfer partners within the next month or so, including five airlines and three hotel loyalty programmes. Transfer ratios have yet to be announced, so stay tuned.

Cardholder Terms and Conditions

OCBC VOYAGE Cardholders earn 1.3 mpd on all Singapore dollar spending, and 2.2 mpd on foreign currency spending. Card benefits include unlimited access to Plaza Premium Lounges, complimentary airport limo transfers, as well as periodic invitations to 1-for-1 dining events.

Unfortunately, the limo benefit was nerfed at the start of February. Cardholders now need to spend S$12,000 per quarter to unlock two rides, with the maximum number of free rides cut from 24 to 8 per year.

As mentioned earlier, free transfers to KrisFlyer are no longer available, though the minimum transfer amount remains at just one mile.

Conclusion

New OCBC VOYAGE Cardholders can now enjoy 30,000 miles as a welcome gift with payment of the S$492.50 annual fee and a minimum spend of S$2,500. This works out to a cost of 1.63 cents per mile, assuming you had to make that spend anyway.

We’re still waiting to hear the full details of OCBC’s new transfer partners, so those 30,000 miles could be useful for more than just KrisFlyer, depending on the all-important conversion ratios.
