Singapore Airlines has unveiled its plans for a new SilverKris Lounge at Perth International Airport,ย moving out of its existing location and into the space vacated by the now-shuttered Qantas Business Lounge.
The new lounge will open by the end of 2023, doubling its passenger capacity and adding new amenities like showers and productivity pods.ย

โWe launched our services to Perth in 1967 and since then weโve invested in and grown our operations to support the West Australian region. Building a brand-new lounge in Perth will deliver an enhanced travel experience and reinforces our commitment to the Perth market. The decision to acquire a new space to build the lounge allows us to minimise the disruption to our customers during the development phase and once work is complete, allows for a seamless transition to the new space.” – SIA Regional VP for Southwest Pacific |
Singapore Airlines plans new Perth Lounge
Singapore Airlines plans to open its new Perth SilverKris Lounge by the end of 2023, which will be centrally located in the International Departure terminal opposite Gate 52. This lounge will seat 140 customers, a doubling of the existing capacity.
Only two publicity images of the new lounge have been released so far, but from what we’ve been told, guests can expect a larger buffet area inclusive of a live station and full bar, plus shower facilities. There will be different spaces to suit needs like dining, lounging and working, with private coves and productivity pods.ย
What’s particularly interesting is that the press release refers the design as the “Home Away From Home” concept, which I thought Singapore Airlines was starting to pivot away from. Home Away From Home had some very distinctive design elements like high wingback chairs and a liberal use of yellow and gold, elements which are missing from the artist’s renders.
In fact, the design language for the new Perth Lounge looks much more similar to the Changi Airport Terminal 3 lounges, less homely and more sophisticated minimalism.
In any case I like what I see, and this will be welcome news for frequent Perth travellers. The current SilverKris Lounge opened all the way back in December 2006, and my goodness doesn’t it look so.
The current lounge is best described as “functional”, a small square room that looks out to the car park. While it has its own bathrooms, it lacks showers.
Points Hacks has come up with this useful map to show the relative location of the new lounge versus the existing facility- note the significant difference in size. Moreover, the Air New Zealand lounge will become its new neighbour, making it easier for Star Gold and Business Class passengers to do a bit of pre-flight lounge hopping.ย

What about other outstation SilverKris Lounges?
In its latest financial results announcement, Singapore Airlines indicated that it was planning to upgrade some of its overseas SilverKris Lounges.
In addition to Perth, Hong Kong is also in the midst of going under the knife (no official statement has been released, but travellers through HKG have sent photos of the renovation notice), so we’ll have at least two refreshed outstation lounges by the end of 2023.ย
Another good candidate for renovation is the Taipei SilverKris Lounge, which is one of the oldest in the network. This lounge has yet toย reopen post COVID; perhaps work might already be underway?
Conclusion
Singapore Airlines will be opening a new SilverKris Lounge in Perth by the end of 2023, a much needed upgrade on the existing 16-year old facility.ย
The early renders look promising, and hopefully we’ll get some trip reports when the year-end travel peak comes round!
