Earn up to 3.3 mpd on Kris+ with American Express KrisFlyer cards

American Express has launched a new AMEX Offer for AMEX Singapore Airlines Credit Cards, which awards up to 3.3 mpd on all Kris+ transactions.

S$5 for new Kris+ Users

Get S$5 (in the form of 750 KrisPay miles) when you sign-up with code W644363 and make your first transaction

Registration is required, and can be done via the AMEX app or AMEX online banking portal. A maximum of 10,000 cards can be registered.

Earn up to 3.3 mpd on Kris+ payments

From 1 August to 30 September 2023, AMEX Singapore Airlines Credit Card members will earn a bonus 2 mpd on Kris+ transactions as follows:

The bonus component is capped at S$400 of spending throughout the entire campaign period. In other words, the maximum bonus you can earn is 800 KrisFlyer miles. 

Bonus miles will be credited within 5 business days from qualifying spend, but may take up to 90 days from the end of the offer date. In practice, they post very fast though.

Better alternatives exist!

Even with the upsized earn rate, the AMEX Singapore Airlines cards aren’t my first choice for Kris+ 

By using other cards, you could rack up an extra 4-6 mpd, with a much higher cap.

Earning miles with Kris+

Kris+ partners with a wide range of everyday merchants, such as Bottles & Bottles, Challenger and Harvey Norman. Members can earn up to 9 mpd at participating merchants, which is further stackable with credit card miles. 

Basically, all you do is:

1. Scan the merchant’s Kris+ QR code
2. Enter the amount to be paid, and press “Pay” to pay via Apple/Google Pay

Don’t forget to transfer any KrisPay miles you earn to KrisFlyer within 7 days of the transaction, in their entirety. A big “Transfer to KrisFlyer” button will appear after every transaction. 

If you wait longer than seven days, or spend any portion of the KrisPay miles earned, the remaining balance will be stuck in Kris+, where they can only be spent at 0.67 cents apiece with a six-month expiry.

Conclusion

From now till 30 September 2023, American Express is offering Singapore Airlines cobrand cardholders a bonus 2 mpd on all Kris+ transactions, capped at 800 bonus miles. 

Even with this bonus, there are much better cards to use with Kris+, so I’d only advise this if you’ve exhausted your caps elsewhere.
