How does the Accor Stay Plus free hotel night benefit work?

Accor Plus memberships come with up to two Stay Plus nights, valid at more than 1,000 hotels across Asia Pacific. Don't waste it!

One of the biggest perks of an Accor Plus membership is the Stay Plus benefit, which offers up to two complimentary nights at participating Accor hotels across Asia Pacific each year.

Explorer Plus S$538
  • Standard Accor Plus benefits
  • 2x Stay Plus nights
*Or 12,000 ALL points, or โ‚ฌ240 which at current exchange rates would be worth S$352

Maximising this perk is key to recovering your Accor Plus membership fee (or credit card annual fee, if that’s how you got your membership), so you’ll want to be strategic about this. In other words, think Sofitel, not Novotel- or even worse, ibis!

In this post, I’ll run through everything you need to know about the Stay Plus benefit.

Booking your Accor Stay Plus benefit

Hotel St. Moritz, Queenstown

Accor Plus Explorer and Explorer Plus receive one and two complimentary Stay Plus nights respectively per membership year. Each is equivalent to one night’s stay in a standard room on a flexible rate.

Stay Plus nights can be found in your Accor Plus member profile.

The Stay Plus night must be booked and stayed before the membership year is finished. In other words, if your Accor Plus membership expires on 30 September 2024, you must book and stay by then.

To book a Stay Plus night, login to your Accor Plus account and click “Use Stay Plus”. You’ll be brought to a search box; make sure the toggle for “Use Stay Plus at participating hotels” is on.

Enter your destination and dates, and you’ll see a list of hotels with Stay Plus availability.

๐Ÿ‘ Protip
If you’re not fussy about where you stay, Accor’s search engine lets you enter entire regions, like Southeast Asia. So at one glance, I can see all the properties around the region where my Stay Plus night is valid!

If a hotel you like does not show any availability for the selected date, you can click “Open rate calendar” to browse other dates. Be careful to select “Stay Plus” and not “Accor Plus”; they’re coloured the same, but the former is free and the latter is a paid rate discounted for Accor Plus members.

You may also notice that some hotels show Stay Plus with a cash top-up.

This means that the hotel does not have standard rooms available, but is willing to offer an upgraded category in exchange for your Stay Plus certificate + cash. For example, the standard room at the Sofitel Angkor is a Superior Room, but on the dates I’m looking for only the Luxury Room category is available. Therefore I need to pay a S$82.77 top-up, in addition to my Stay Plus night.

If the idea of a cash top-up bothers you, you can always use the rate calendar mentioned earlier to look for dates with standard room availability.

In general, there is no minimum stay requirement to use a Stay Plus night. However, several hotels impose a minimum of 2-3 nights.

Once you’ve chosen your preferred hotel, proceed to book it as per normal. Stay Plus nights follow the hotel’s flexible rate cancellation policy, which is usually 24 hours before arrival. This may differ from property to property, however, so be sure to check.

If you cancel a Stay Plus booking, your certificate will be refunded to your account. In my experience it’s usually instant, but it may sometimes take up to 24 hours to reflect.

Using Stay Plus in conjunction with a paid booking

Stay Plus nights can be booked together with paid nights in a single booking. Simply select the period you wish to stay, and the free night will be deducted from the total payable.

In the example above, I’m booking two nights at the Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara. The first night is free, thanks to Stay Plus, and the second night costs S$128.15.

The system will automatically give the cheapest night free.

Using Stay Plus in conjunction with a points redemption

Stay Plus nights cannot be used in conjunction with a stay paid for with ALL rewards points.

However, you can still use ALL rewards points at check-out to pay for any incidentals or additional charges which occurred during your stay.

Other Stay Plus FAQs

Can I use more than one Stay Plus night in a single booking?

No. If you’re an Accor Plus Explorer Plus member with two Stay Plus nights, you cannot use them consecutively at the same hotel. There must be at least a one-day gap inbetween.

Can I book a Stay Plus night for someone else?

No. Stay Plus nights are non-transferrable, and the Accor Plus member must be a staying guest.

Can I search for Stay Plus nights without an Accor Plus membership?

No. You must have an Accor Plus membership to search for Stay Plus award availability.

Do you earn status nights on Stay Plus nights?

Stay Plus bookings will only earn status nights and ALL points when the member has an eligible spend charged to the booking. For example, you could charge a meal at the hotel restaurant to your room, or add additional paid nights on the same booking.

Can Stay Plus nights be used in conjunction with a Suite Night upgrade?

No. ALL Diamond and Platinum members cannot use Suite Night Upgrades in conjunction with a Stay Plus booking.

Can Stay Plus nights be used for walk-ins?

No. You must book them in advance via accorplus.com, all.accor.com or the Accor All app.

Are any hotels excluded from participation?

The Stay Plus benefit is not applicable at participating Banyan Tree, Angsana and Cassia properties across Asia Pacific, or any participating Accor hotels and resorts in Mainland China.

In addition to this, there are several properties where Stay Plus is either not offered, or requires a minimum number of nights.

Can I use my Stay Plus night at the Raffles Hotel?

-long, extended laughter-

No. The Raffles chain does not participate in Accor Plus, even though it does participate in Accor Live Limitless.

Conclusion

Sofitel City Centre Singapore

The Stay Plus benefit is one of the best features of an Accor Plus membership, and used judiciously, could be worth as much as S$400+ (assuming you book one of Accor’s high-end properties).

Remember that you need to use your free night before your membership expires, so don’t leave it till the last minute!

As at today, only the shitty hotels are participating.

they had more redemption options for the free stay, but this year they’ve pretty much limited the redemption to lower tier rooms.. i managed to redeem a room with lounge access at fairmont sg last year for a top up fee of only 150ish, but this year there wasnt such options anymore.. all rooms with lounge access were full price only, in fact most hotels with lounges do not offer redemption plus top up, only full price.. on the point about multiple night stays tho, i was looking to stay at osaka swissotel from thurs to mon and noticed that… Read more »

There is low season n nigh season, need to book few months ahead and may able to get the free night. In Singapore only Swissotel n Fairmont can be book for the free night, and with a night price tag of more than $400 with tax, it’s a good deal

Been an Accor Plus member for years….now every member given 20 per renewal and fast upgrade to Gold Member after staying 10 paid nights for a calendar year. Always book a free night with a higher end luxury hotel stay.Very worth it!

Last year I got Sofitel legend Hanoi which was a great way to use Stay Plus

Itโ€™s extremely difficult to find a decent property in Singapore to use the free stay on at the moment. Even searching 10 months out, you basically canโ€™t get any 5 star hotels for almost all weekends and most weekdays.

The only readily available property is Novotel Stevens.. f me if Iโ€™m going to be burning the voucher on that. Will have to think again when valuing the AF I paid on the HF for Accor Plus when renewing next year.

ONLY THE NONSENSE CHEAP HOTELS ARE AVAILABLE FOR SINGAPORE NOW! Do not buy the membership. It is a con job. They kept advertising that you can use it for Sofitel Sentosa on IG ads, but there is zero dates available.
