Mastercard customers enjoy elite status with numerous hotel chains such as CentaraThe1, GHA DISCOVERY, IPrefer, and Wyndham Rewards. While these aren’t necessarily the biggest or the most well-known loyalty programmes, it’s still better to have some status than none at all!
Mastercard has now unveiled a new partnership with MyMillennium, the loyalty programme of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, with World and World Elite Mastercard customers getting upgraded from Classic to Silver and Prestige respectively,
Wait a minute, you say. I thought MyMillennium only had two tiers? Well yes- it did. MyMillennium is the epitome of loyalty programme dysfunction, going from three tiers to a single tier to two tiers and then back to three tiers, all in the space of five years!

How long is status valid for?
Once your account is upgraded, status is valid for a 12-month period.
To retain your status beyond this period, you’ll need to meet the regular requalification criteria, namely:
- Silver: 10 nights stayed or US$625 F&B spend per year
- Prestige: 20 nights stayed or US$1,250 F&B spend per year
What perks do members enjoy?
Here’s a summary of the perks enjoyed by the various tiers of MyMillennium, including the free-to-join Classic tier.
The main benefit of Silver status is early check-in/late check-out, though it’s only offered for up to two hours before/after standard check-in/check-out times, and are subject to availability.
Guaranteed club lounge access for Prestige members is welcome, but the room upgrades are subject to availability, and capped at a club room. Suites are explicitly excluded from the upgrade pool.
Complimentary breakfast is not a perk of any tier, though you might be able to enjoy that if you’re a Prestige member staying at a hotel with a club lounge.
Given the relatively small footprint of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, the elite benefits do feel very underpowered. You’d think that loyalty programmes for smaller chains would need to try harder in order to pull customers away from the big boys like Marriott or Hilton.
World of Hyatt is a great example of a smaller programme punching above its weight. MyMillennium, on the other hand, just feels superfluous. It feels like the kind of chain that might have been better off joining a programme like GHA DISCOVERY instead of trying to run their own programme.
What other hotel status do Mastercard customers enjoy?
Mastercard has been busy striking deals with smaller hotel loyalty programmes, and cardholders can enjoy fast-tracks to elite status with seven programmes in total.
World | World Elite | |
Brilliant by Langham | Sapphire | Ruby |
CentaraThe1 | Gold | Platinum |
GHA DISCOVERY | Platinum | Titanium |
I Prefer | Titanium | Titanium (+ 25K bonus points) |
My Millennium | Silver | Prestige |
Swiss Belexecutive | Gold Influencer | Platinum Connoisseur |
Wyndham Rewards | Platinum | Diamond |
Like I said, these aren’t necessarily the largest loyalty chains out there- I know I’d rather have Hilton Gold status than Swiss Belexecutive “Gold Influencer”, whatever that is .
But still, if your travel plans bring you to one of these hotels, then I’m sure you’d rather have some status than none at all.
Conclusion
Mastercard customers can now receive an instant upgrade to MyMillennium Silver or Prestige status, bypassing the usual stay or spending requirement.
I don’t think much of the MyMillennium programme to be frank, which has a habit of relaunching itself every couple of years. The lack of stability makes it hard to commit to stay, because your hard work could be easily undone the following year by yet another revamp.
I used to stay at their hotels and tried to stay at their limited properties whenever I travelled. A small program but decent redemption. However, their constant changes confused me unlike other hotel programs where they have stability and regular offers. I only stay at one of their property now. It is a pity.
Anyone has the older Revolut Metal MasterCard? It has the World Elite branding on the back of the card, but whenever I try to redeem a MasterCard offer (this one too), it always says that it’s just a World card. Tried contacting Revolut but their support is just chat bots that bring me round and round.
