HSBC x SingSaver offer: S$400 eCapitaVouchers or other gifts with S$500 min. spend

Expired

From now till 2 January 2025, enjoy some of the biggest welcome gifts we've seen for HSBC credit cards this year.

We haven’t seen many big acquisition offers for HSBC credit cards so far in 2024, but with the year drawing to a close, there’s now a juicy one from SingSaver.

New-to-bank customers can enjoy gifts including a Dyson Supersonic hairdryer, S$400 eCapitaVouchers, or S$199 cash + S$200 eCapitaVouchers when they apply for a HSBC credit card by 2 January 2025 and make a minimum spend of S$500.

This offer also stacks with SingSaver’s ongoing 12 Days of Credit Card Christmas, which awards an extra S$50-$100 cash when you apply for two or three cards in total.

HSBC x SingSaver welcome offers

HSBC Advance, Live+, Revolution

The following welcome offers are available for applications submitted between 9 December 2024 and 2 January 2025 by new-to-bank customers, defined as those who:

In other words, holding a HSBC TravelOne Card, either now or in the recent past, has no bearing on your new-to-bank status for these offers.

The first year’s annual fee is waived for all cards (and the HSBC Revolution has no annual fee).

HSBC TravelOne Card

The following welcome offer is available for applications submitted between 9 December 2024 and 2 January 2025 by anyone who has not cancelled a principal HSBC TravelOne Card in the past 12 months.

In other words, you’re still eligible for this offer even if you hold other HSBC credit cards at the time of application.

To summarise the difference between applying via HSBC directly and applying via SingSaver:

  Apply via HSBC Apply via SingSaver
Pay Annual Fee S$196.20 S$196.20
Reward 20,000 miles S$199 cash + S$200 eCV
(or other gifts)

I reckon it’s better to go via the SingSaver route, though it boils down to how much you value a mile.

Application steps

  1. Apply via the links in this article
  2. Complete the SingSaver Rewards Redemption Form that is sent to your email, within the first 14 days of application. Ensure that the name, mobile number and email address submitted to SingSaver are the same as that used in the credit card application
  3. Provide HSBC with your consent to receive marketing and promotional materials, and do not revoke it before the gift is fulfilled. This step is very important: no consent = no reward!

What counts as qualifying spend?

A minimum qualifying spend of S$500 must be made by the end of the calendar month after card approval. For example, cards opened on 9 December 2024 will have until 31 January 2025 to meet the qualifying spend.

Qualifying spend includes any retail transactions (whether online or offline), excluding the following:

  • Foreign exchange transactions (including but not limited to Forex.com);
  • Donations and payments to charitable, social organisations and religious organisations;
  • Quasi-cash transactions (including but not limited to transactions relating to money orders, traveler’s checks, gaming related transactions, lottery tickets and gambling);
  • Payments made to financial institutions, securities brokerages or dealers (including but not limited to the trading of securities, investments or crypto-currencies of any kind);
  • Payments on money payments/transfers (including but not limited to Paypal, SKR skrill.com, CardUp, SmoovPay, iPayMy);
  • Payments to any professional services provider (including but not limited to GOOGLE Ads, Facebook Ads, Amazon Web Services, MEDIA TRAFFIC AGENCY INC);
  • Top-ups, money transfers or purchase of credits of prepaid cards, stored-value cards or e-wallets (including but not limited to EZ-Link, Transitlink, NETS Flashpay and Youtrip);
  • Payments in connection with any government institutions and/or services (including but not limited to court costs, fines, bail and bond payment);
  • Any AXS and ATM transactions;
  • Tax payments (including HSBC Tax Payment Facility);
  • Payments for cleaning, maintenance and janitorial services (including property management fees);
  • Payments to insurance companies (including but not limited to sales, underwriting, premiums and insurance services);
  • Payments to educational institutions;
  • Payments on utilities (Electric, Gas, Water, and Sanitary);
  • The monthly instalment amounts under the HSBC Spend Instalment;
  • Balance transfers, fund transfers, cash advances, finance charges, late charges, HSBCโ€™s Cash Instalment Plan, any fees charged by HSBC;
  • Any unposted, cancelled, disputed and refunded transactions

The key exclusions to note here are insurance, utilities, education, government transactions as well as CardUp/ipaymy. These were all excluded from 1 July 2020 onwards as part of HSBC’s revised rewards terms and conditions.

Gift fulfilment

All gifts will be fulfilled within three months from the date of completion of the minimum spend. You can check the status of your reward redemption here.

Stacking with SingSaver 12 Days of Credit Card Christmas

SingSaver is running a separate promotion called 12 Days of Credit Card Christmas, which is valid for applications submitted from 9-20 December 2024.

Under this promotion, you can get an extra S$50 to S$100 cash by applying for a total of 2 or 3 cards.

  • Apply for 2x cards: Extra S$50 cash
  • Apply for 3x cards: Extra S$100 cash

Of the card applications:

  • at least one must be from UOB, Maybank or CIMB Bank.
  • all two (2x card bonus) or three (3x card bonus) must be new-to-bank

Terms & Conditions

Conclusion

SingSaver is ending 2024 with some big welcome offers for HSBC credit cards, and if you meet the eligibility criteria, this would be a good chance to cash in your new-to-bank status.

I’ve grown a lot less enthusiastic about the HSBC Revolution Card due to its multiple nerfs over 2024, but it’s still a no-fee way of getting a copy of The Entertainer with HSBC, so I don’t really see a downside to signing up for the new customer bonus.

Hi Aaron, I applied via Singsaver and have gotten the email from HSBC that my application has been received, but the email does not contain any ARN for filling up the Singsaver reward form. Please advise.

Nat

Yes I closed the application page only to find out that itโ€™s not sent in the email. i contacted HSBC live chat, they advised to put NA as the ARN.

Tom

The heymax miles bonus for Revo is 17000 as seen in the T&Cs. Did they lower it?

Andy

So for this promotion, I can apply for both the TravelOne and Revolution, and get two sets of welcome gifts if I am new-to-HSBC? In addition, I could apply 1 more Maybank card and it becomes a total of 3x cards for SingSaver 12 Days of Credit Card Christmas promo?
