Scoot launching non-stop flights to Vienna from June 2025

Rock me Amadeus! From 3 June 2025, Scoot launches non-stop service from Singapore to Vienna, with introductory fares from S$618.

Scoot has announced the launch of non-stop flights to Austria’s capital Vienna, which becomes the low cost carrier’s third European destination after Athens and Berlin (which will beย terminated from 28 March 2025).ย

The new service will commence in June 2025, in time for the summer peak travel period, and marks a restoration of connectivity between Singapore and Austria for the first time since 2007.

Vienna, which is dubbed the City of Music, is famous as the birthplace of classical music legends like Mozart and Strauss, making it a dream destination for cultural enthusiasts. The city enchants travellers with its majestic architectural charm, rich heritage and timeless artistic allure.

Its central location makes it an excellent gateway to explore Eastern Europe and an ideal starting point for multi-city European adventures on scenic road trips. Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, is just 50 kilometres away from Vienna Airport, while Budapest, Hungary and major cities in Czechia, Croatia, and Slovenia are all within a three-hour drive

Scoot adding non-stop flights to Vienna

Scoot will fly non-stop to Vienna from 3 June 2025

From 3 June 2025, Scoot will launch a 3X weekly service between Singapore and Vienna, with the following schedule.ย

Flight Dep. Arr. Days
TR708 SIN 0300 VIE 1010 Tue, Thu, Sat
TR709 VIE 1125 SIN 0450 (+1) Tue, Thu, Sat

The flight is blocked at 13 hours 10 minutes from Singapore to Vienna, and 11 hours 25 minutes in the opposite direction.

Seats are now available for sale on the Scoot website, with introductory one-way fares of:

  • S$309 (Economy) and S$659 (ScootPlus) from Singapore to Vienna
  • S$299.85 (Economy) and S$751.88 (ScootPlus) from Vienna to Singapore

This service will be operated by the Boeing 787-8 aircraft, which offers a total of 329 seats. These are divided into:

  • 18 ScootPlus seats
  • 27 Economy Stretch seats
  • 284 Economy Standard seats

Needless to say, the inflight experience on a long-haul LCC won’t be luxurious. Expect 30-31 inches of seat pitch in Economy, with 18 inches of seat width and 6 inches of seat recline. I’d highly advise you to pack your own entertainment, chargers, and other comfort items!

Changi gets its non-stop Austria link back

The launch of the Singapore-Vienna route marks a restoration of non-stop flights between the two countries for the first time since 2007.ย

For context,ย Singapore Airlines launched flights to Vienna in April 1985, and over the years experimented with various routings, including an onward flight to Toronto in the 1990s. However, the route was terminated due to poor loads, with the last flight departing on 29 October 2000.

Austrian Airlines then served Singapore with a Vienna – Singapore – Melbourne service until March 2007, when it terminated the route (together with all its Australian flights) citing continued unprofitability.ย

Berlin getting the axe

Unfortunately, Scoot has also announced that it will be “optimising” itsย  route network by suspending operations to Berlin, with the last flight scheduled to take place on 28 March 2025.ย

Scoot will reach out to affected customers to provide assistance to rebook or refund their tickets.

Can you redeem miles for these flights?

1,050 miles S$10

KrisFlyer miles can be redeemed for Scoot flights, but only at a fixed rate of 1,050 miles = S$10. This makes it relatively poor value, at least compared to an award flight redemption.

Therefore, my advice is always to earn and not burn KrisFlyer miles on Scoot, as highlighted in the post below.

Should you redeem KrisFlyer miles for Scoot?

Conclusion

Vienna

Scoot will commence non-stop flights to Vienna from 3 June 2025, with a 3X service operated by a Boeing 787-8 aircraft.ย

Promotional fares are now available for booking starting at S$618 for a round-trip Economy ticket, but if you don’t mind a one-stop flight, you could also find options on full-service carriers like Etihad and Emirates for slightly more.

This would come with the added benefit of checked luggage, meals, and inflight entertainment- creature comforts that might seem superfluous on a short-haul flight to Kuala Lumpur, but whose absence will be acutely felt on a long-haul to Europe!
