Singapore Airlines’ travel booking platform Pelago has officially launched its new mobile app, which allows customers to book more than 200,000 attractions, activities, tours and transportation options worldwide.
Bookings made through the app will receive a 10% discount on the first purchase, and earn 3 KrisFlyer miles per S$1. This is further stackable with up to 4 mpd by using the right credit card.
Pelago’s new mobile app
Pelago’s mobile app is now available for download on the Google Play and Apple App Store.
Do note that there’s another app called Pelago which provides virtual support for individuals with substance abuse issues. Download that one if you want, but it’s “Pelago by Singapore Airlines” that lets you get high, the safe way.
Bookings made through the Pelago mobile app earn 3 KrisFlyer miles per S$1, the same as bookings made through the website, or via Kris+. KrisFlyer miles will be awarded on the final amount paid for Pelago bookings, after eligible discounts have been applied.
A maximum of 50,000 KrisFlyer miles can be earned per booking, so unless you’re spending more than S$16,667, you don’t need to worry about the cap.
Here’s the differences between booking channels:
Book via Kris+ | Book via Mobile App or Website | |
Maximum Per Booking | None^ | 50,000 miles |
Miles Credited | Instantly | 7 days after activity completion |
Promo Codes | No | Yes* |
Heymax / ShopBack | No | Yes (website) |
^ The maximum payment that can be made via Kris+ is capped at S$20,000 per day, so technically there is a 60,000 miles limit *Promo codes cannot be stacked with Heymax or ShopBack. Using a promo code will result in your Max Miles or cashback not tracking |
One drawback of Pelago is that it’s still missing a basket function, which means you can only pay for a single item (with one or more people) at a time. Therefore, if you have a promo code, you’ll want to save it for the most expensive activity in your itinerary.
Save 10% off first app booking
Pelago is now offering 10% off the first booking made via the mobile app with the code APP10. This code requires a minimum spend of S$80, and the savings are capped at S$10.
Promo codes cannot be used for items listed on this page.
Other Pelago discounts
Singapore Airlines and Scoot passengers can also enjoy discounts of 10% and 20% respectively on Pelago bookings.
For the avoidance of doubt, you will only receive a single PNR even if your itinerary has both Singapore Airlines and Scoot flights. The terms of your discount depend on which airline issues your ticket; in the case of mixed Singapore Airlines and Scoot itineraries, the issuer will be Singapore Airlines.
Singapore Airlines passengers
Singapore Airlines passengers with a valid PNR will enjoy a 10% discount on Pelago bookings, capped at S$50. Each PNR can be used for a maximum of three redemptions.
Here’s some important things to note:
- The discount is valid for both award bookings and cash bookings
- PNRs can only be used from the date of their issuance up till the date of the last segment of the booking. For example, if the last flight in your PNR is 20 November 2024, you must use the discount by 20 November 2024
- PNRs must be for confirmed flights; waitlisted bookings will not trigger the discount
- The discount is only valid for Pelago activities in the destination and layover countries featured in the PNR
Scoot passengers
Scoot assengers with a valid PNR will enjoy a 20% discount on Pelago bookings, capped at S$15. Each PNR can be used for a maximum of one redemption.
Here’s some important things to note:
- PNRs can only be used from the date of their issuance up till the date of the last segment of the booking. For example, if the last flight in your PNR is 20 November 2024, you must use the discount by 20 November 2024
- The discount is only valid for Pelago activities in the destination and layover countries featured in the PNR
What card to use with Pelago?
Pelago purchases code as online transactions under MCC 4722 Travel Agencies and Tour Operators, which means you should pay with the following cards.
Card | Earn Rate | Remarks |
Apply |
4 mpd | Max S$2K per calendar month. Must choose Travel as bonus category Review |
Apply |
4 mpd | Max S$1K per calendar month. Must choose Travel as bonus category Review |
Apply |
4 mpd | Max S$1.5K per calendar month Review |
Apply |
3 mpd | No cap. Must book via Kris+ Review |
Avoid using the Citi Rewards Card, as MCC 4722 is classified as a travel transaction and explicitly excluded from earning the bonus 4 mpd rate for online transactions. Also, the HSBC Revolution Card is no longer an option, following the January 2024 removal of MCC 4722 from its bonus whitelist.
Conclusion
Pelago’s new mobile app is offering customers 10% off their first app booking, together with the usual 3 KrisFlyer miles per S$1. However, you should do the math and see whether you’re better off booking via the Pelago website through Heymax (current offer: up to 10 Max Miles per S$1) or Shopback (current offer: up to 7% cashback).
Hopefully, Pelago will see fit to add a basket function in the near future, making the shopping experience easier.
