KrisFlyer 10 Million Members Bash: Award flight discounts, bonus miles, points conversion bonuses and more

KrisFlyer marks its 10 millionth member with 20% off all Economy and selected Premium Economy flights, a 50% bonus for SIA and Scoot flights, and other limited-time bonuses.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer now has more than 10 million members worldwide (no wonder it’s so hard to get Saver awards!) and is marking this milestone with a series of promotions for KrisFlyer members.

Highlights include a 20% discount on all Economy Saver and selected Premium Economy Saver awards, a 50% mileage bonus for SIA and Scoot flights, a 20% bonus on conversions to and from selected partners, and more.

There’s a lot to cover here, so think of this post as a quick summary. I’ll be publishing dedicated articles for some of these promotions in the days to come, so stay tuned.

✈️ KrisFlyer 10 Million Members Promos

20% off Economy and selected Premium Economy awards

Save 20% off all Economy Class Saver awards on Singapore Airlines

From 7-23 March 2025, KrisFlyer members will enjoy a 20% discount on the following Singapore Airlines award redemptions:

  • Economy Saver awards: All flights across the SIA network
  • Premium Economy Saver awards: Selected flights between Singapore and San Francisco, New York JFK, and New York (Newark)

Blackout dates apply, and can be found here. Tickets are valid for travel between 1 May to 15 November 2025.

While a 20% discount is lower than the usual 30% offered during Spontaneous Escapes, the key benefit here is the longer travel window. This promotion is valid for flights for a 198-day period till mid-November 2025, so if you’re looking to lock in travel plans and don’t mind Economy or Premium Economy, then you can secure a 20% discount by booking now.

An important reminder that these awards will be booked under the Promo category, which means they’re strictly non-changeable and non-refundable. Be sure to confirm your plans before pulling the trigger, or else buy travel insurance that covers the loss of miles and points.

In case you were wondering, Spontaneous Escapes is still happening this month, but you’ll need to wait until 14 March 2025 for the list to be released. The travel period for this month’s Spontaneous Escapes will be the usual window, i.e. 1-30 April 2025.

30% redemption discount on KrisShop and Pelago

From 7-31 March 2025, KrisFlyer members will enjoy a 30% discount when paying with miles on KrisShop and Pelago.

With a 30% redemption discount:

  • The value per mile on KrisShop is boosted from 0.8 cents to 1.14 cents each
  • The value per mile on Pelago is boosted from 0.67 cents to 0.95 cents each

The other difference to note is that KrisShop allows a mix of miles and cash to be used for payment, but Pelago does not (you either pay all miles, or all cash). Therefore, if you have expiring miles you wish to surgically burn on the ground, KrisShop might be the better option. Of course, KrisShop’s prices could be inflated to begin with, so comparison shopping is essential!

Even with the discount, spending miles on the ground represents poor value compared to redeeming an award flight, so I wouldn’t consider this except in very limited circumstances.

30% transfer bonus to Kris+

S$5 for new Kris+ Users
Get S$5 (in the form of 750 KrisPay miles) when you sign-up with code W644363 and make your first transaction

From 7-31 March 2025, KrisFlyer members will receive an uncapped 30% bonus when they transfer KrisFlyer miles to Kris+.

Instead of the usual rate of 15 KrisFlyer miles = 15 KrisPay miles, you’ll now receive 20 KrisPay miles instead (19.5 miles rounded up to 20).

 KrisFlyer Kris+
15 KrisFlyer miles 15 KrisPay miles
20 KrisPay miles

KrisPay miles have a six-month validity, and can be used to pay for purchases at more than 500 participating merchants at a rate of 150 KrisPay miles = S$1. Therefore, under this promotion the value per KrisFlyer mile is boosted from the usual 0.67 cents to 0.89 cents.

Again, I don’t think this represents particularly good value. Unless you have a small number of expiring miles, you’re better off aiming for an award flight instead.

50% bonus miles on SIA and Scoot flights

Earn 50% more miles on SIA and Scoot

From 24-31 March 2025, KrisFlyer members who book a Singapore Airlines or Scoot flight will earn 50% more KrisFlyer miles, provided the travel dates fall between 1 April to 31 October 2025.

This offer is valid for all commercial fare classes, and is capped at 5,000 bonus miles per segment. If you happen to pay for your commercial flight with a mix of cash + miles, the miles earned will be proportional and only in respect of the amount paid for using cash.

As a reminder, here’s the accrual rates from Singapore Airlines’ various fare classes.

Cabin Fare Class Accrual Rate
Suites / First A, F 200%

Flexi: Z, C, J 150%
Standard: U 125%
Lite: D 125%

Lite: R 100%
Economy Flexi: B, E, Y 100%
Standard: M, H, W 75%
Value & Lite: Q, N, V, K, G 50%
KrisFlyer Elite Silver, Elite Gold and Solitaire PPS, PPS Club members earn a 25% elite bonus, on top of the amounts shown above. This elite bonus does not apply to Economy Value & Economy Lite fares.

The bonus is applied only to the base accrual amount, before any elite bonuses.

As an illustration, consider the example of a KrisFlyer Elite Gold member who flies one-way from SIN-SFO in Economy Standard (H), with 8,440 miles the actual distance flown:

  • ‘H’ Fare class: 6,330 miles (75% x 8,440)
  • Elite bonus: 2,110 miles (25% x 8,440)
  • 50% promotional bonus: 3,165 miles (50% x 6,330)

Notice how the promotional bonus is applied to the 75% accrual that the ‘H’ fare class normally earns, not the actual distance flown.

To be eligible for this offer, bookings must be made via the official SIA or Scoot website, or mobile app. Bookings made through travel agencies will not be eligible.

20% bonus on partner points conversions

From 7-31 March 2025, KrisFlyer members will enjoy a 20% bonus when converting KrisFlyer miles to partner points (and vice versa, in some cases) for Accor Live Limitless, CapitaStar, Esso Singapore, Marriott Bonvoy and Velocity Frequent Flyer.

I wouldn’t consider this to be a great deal in either direction though, because the base transfer ratios are very poor to begin with, and almost always result in you losing value. A 20% bonus is not going to make up for that.

Social media giveaway

From 7-31 March 2025, KrisFlyer will run promotions on its Facebook and Instagram accounts, offering members the opportunity to win up to 38,000 KrisFlyer miles.

Do note that these contests are run on the KrisFlyer by SIA Group pages, and not the Singapore Airlines pages. As always, be careful of imposter lookalike pages that try to scam you!

Conclusion

Singapore Airlines has launched a series of promotions to celebrate KrisFlyer’s 10 millionth member worldwide, and while some of them are forgettable, 20% off Economy and Premium Economy awards and a 50% bonus on Singapore Airlines and Scoot flights could come in handy.

If you, like me, were hoping for an early launch of Spontaneous Escapes, the bad news is that we’ll have to wait a further week to see the list. I’m still crossing my fingers that this month’s discount will be higher than the usual 30%, but don’t hold me to that.

I’ll be covering some of these promotions in more detail over the next few days, so look out for those articles!

Thanks for the helpful summary. It seems a bit underwhelming for a “upsized” promotion

Tony

Definitely below what I was hoping for. Just the extra miles for commercial bookings.

LANY

Transfer bonuses from Capita Star, Accor, and Smiles. “Underwhelming” doesn’t even capture my disappoint. A nothing burger.
