๐Ÿ”ฅ AMEX Platinum Charge welcome offer: Get 150,000 bonus points + S$100 with S$8K spend

Max Miles can now be converted to yuu Points (and KrisFlyer miles)

Max Miles can now be converted to yuu Points, and on 25 May 2025 only, convert Max Miles to KrisFlyer miles at a 1:1 ratio.

HeyMax has launched a new partnership with yuu Rewards Club, which enables users to convert Max Miles into yuu Points at a 1:3 ratio.

While transfers are currently not possible in the opposite direction, this partnership creates more uses for Max Miles including, intriguingly, the opportunity to convert them into KrisFlyer miles.

But donโ€™t transfer them just yet, because on Sunday, 25 May 2025, HeyMax will be offering 20% milesback on all yuu Points transfers, effectively allowing you to transfer Max Miles to KrisFlyer miles at a 1:1 ratio.

Convert Max Miles to yuu Points

Max Miles yuu Points
1 mile 3 points

HeyMax users can now convert Max Miles to yuu Points at a 1:3 ratio.

  • A minimum conversion of 1,000 Max Miles is required
  • All conversions are free of charge
  • Transfers will be processed within 3-14 working days (instant conversions will be possible in the future)

HeyMax and yuu Accounts can be linked via the HeyMax app. Each HeyMax account can only be linked to one yuu Account (which must be your own), and once a yuu Account is linked, it cannot be unlinked.

Unfortunately, conversions will only be in the direction of Max Miles > yuu Points for now. Thatโ€™s a shame, because itโ€™d be great to have another Max Miles-earning card apart from the Chocolate Visa Debit Card.

20% milesback offer coming

On 25 May 2025 only, HeyMax will offer a 20% rebate on all Max Miles to yuu Points conversions, boosting the ratio to 0.8:3.

For example, if you converted 1,000 Max Miles, youโ€™d receive 3,000 yuu Points and a rebate of 200 Max Miles, for a nett outlay of 800 Max Miles.

Milesback rebates are tracked instantly, and will be awarded within seven days.

Is it worth it?

1 yuu Point can be redeemed for 0.5 cents within the yuu ecosystem, so converting Max Miles to yuu Points values them at:

  • 1.5 cents, under the regular rate
  • 1.88 cents, with the 20% milesback offer

Iโ€™m rather lukewarm about that, since you could easily get 2 cents per Max Mile โ€” in cash โ€” by using the FlyAnywhere feature. All you need is a recent commercial flight ticket, which need not even be in your name.

  Till 6 Apr 25 From 7 Apr to 7 Jul 25
Value Per Mile 1.8ยข 2ยข
Redemption Entire airfare must be paid with Max Miles Partial redemptions of Max Miles allowed (min. 1,000)

In fact, a better use case for this partnership would be for KrisFlyer miles conversions.

Backdoor transfers to KrisFlyer?

Convert Max Miles to KrisFlyer, via yuu Rewards Club

While Max Miles can be transferred to 27 airline and hotel loyalty programmes, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer isnโ€™t one of them.

To be clear, I donโ€™t consider this to be a particular handicap. Given how versatile Max Miles are, and the wide range of partners available, I feel itโ€™s a waste to convert them into garden variety KrisFlyer miles.

But if you insist on doing so, this partnership with yuu Rewards Club opens up the possibility.  yuu Points can be converted to KrisFlyer miles at a 3.6:1 ratio, which means that 1 Max Mile = 0.83 KrisFlyer miles.

Max Miles yuu Points KrisFlyer Miles
1 mile 3 points 0.83 miles

With the 20% milesback rebate, the transfer ratio is effectively boosted to 1 Max Mile = 1.04 KrisFlyer miles. If you really wanted to cash out your Max Miles to KrisFlyer, wait till Sunday!

What can you do with yuu Points?

Offset spending at yuu merchants

Pay with Points
Min. Amount 200 points
Value Per Point 0.5 cents
Fixed Denominations? No

yuu Points can be used to offset transactions at yuu merchants at a fixed rate of 1 point = 0.5 cents.

  • A minimum redemption of 200 points (S$1) is required
  • Partial usage of points is not possible; if you have 10,000 points (S$50) and a S$75 transaction, youโ€™ll need to redeem all 10,000 points at one go

Pay with Points is currently available at:

  • 7-Eleven (in-store)
  • BreadTalk (in-store)
  • Cold Storage (in-store)
  • CS Fresh (in-store)
  • foodpanda (via app)
  • Giant (in-store)
  • Guardian (in-store)
  • Toast Box (in-store)
  • Thye Moh Chan (in-store)

You wonโ€™t be able to use Pay with Points at other merchants like gojek or Singtel, though you can redeem fixed-denomination vouchers instead (see below).

KrisFlyer miles conversions

Conversions to KrisFlyer
Min. Amount 200 points
Conversion Rate 3.6 points = 1 mile
Fixed Denominations? Conversions available in 1 mile increments beyond min. amount

yuu Points can be converted to KrisFlyer miles at a 3.6:1 ratio

  • Conversions are processed instantly
  • No conversion fees apply
  • A minimum conversion block of 200 yuu Points (55 miles) applies, after which conversions are in blocks of 1 mile

The fact that conversions are both free and instant makes it a very useful tool for topping up a KrisFlyer account when youโ€™re just shy of the miles necessary for a redemption. The relatively small conversion block also means you wonโ€™t be forced to transfer more points than you need.

Given that 1 yuu point is worth 0.5 cents, as we saw in the previous section, it can seem as if youโ€™re paying 1.8 cents per mile. However, thatโ€™s not really the case.

That math would be correct if you were dealing with a cashback card, where the rebate is offset against your monthly bill. But the yuu Card is not a cashback card. Itโ€™s a rewards card, where the points need to be offset against future spending.

Hereโ€™s a simple illustration. Suppose you spend S$600 on your yuu Card and earn 21,600 points. You now have a choice between:

  1. Using those points to offset S$108 of spend at a yuu merchant
  2. Converting those points to 6,000 KrisFlyer miles

Choose option 1 implicitly means you forgo the opportunity to earn 1,080 miles on your next transaction at a yuu merchant (because your bill is reduced by S$108, at 10 mpd). Therefore, by choosing the S$108 offset, youโ€™re giving up not 6,000 miles, but 7,080 miles. Based on this, the opportunity cost is 1.53 cents per mile.

Rewards catalogue

Rewards Catalogue
Min. Amount Varies
Value Per Point Varies

The yuu app features a rewards catalogue that features a wide range of options from yuu merchants. As a tip, you can sort the deals by Most Discounted, to see the best offers upfront.

Some of these are quintessential โ€œaunty dealsโ€, like 400 points for a pack of 7-Eleven eggs or 250 points for orange juice. If thatโ€™s attractive to you, by all means, but my favourites are the Singtel CAST packages. The 7-day sports package comes in useful whenever thereโ€™s a tennis tournament I want to watch but donโ€™t want to commit to an entire monthโ€™s subscription.

You can also find vouchers for Cold Storage, Giant, foodpanda, Gojek, Toast Box and BreadTalk, where the value can be marginally better than the Pay with Points option. For example:

Item yuu Points Value per point
S$10 Gojek 1,800 0.56 cents
S$20 foodpanda 3,600 0.56 cents
S$20 Cold Storage 3,880 0.52 cents

The catch here is that the vouchers are only available in fixed denominations, unlike Pay with Points which has no such restrictions (beyond the minimum 200 points redemption threshold).

From time to time, yuu will list some Super Duper deals, like a S$10 Gojek voucher for 1,000 points (1 cent per point). These are available in limited quantity, so snag them if you can.

The new HeyMax x yuu Rewards Club partnership allows users to convert Max Miles to yuu Points at a 1:3 ratio, effectively valuing each Max Mile at 1.5 cents.

This provides a way of using orphan balances, though personally if I were able to accumulate at least 1,000 Max Miles, then Iโ€™d be looking at cashing out through FlyAnywhere for better value. Itโ€™s also a way of converting Max Miles into KrisFlyer miles, albeit at an underwhelming 1: 0.83 ratio.

However, there will be a 20% milesback offer coming on Sunday, 25 May 2025, which boosts the value per Max Mile to 1.88 cents (if cashed out at yuu merchants), or enhances the transfer ratio to KrisFlyer to 1:1. If you find that attractive, be sure to mark down the date in your calendar.
