HeyMax has launched an uncapped 20% transfer bonus for converting Max Miles to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, valid for transfers made by 1 June 2026.
While Asia Miles has just suffered a double whammy of a devaluation and increased fuel surcharges, a 20% bonus could go some way to offsetting the impact. Moreover, transferring Max Miles to Asia Miles will also trigger additional bonus miles under the Cathay Anniversary Miles Rewards campaign, creating a nice little double dip opportunity.

Is it worth it?

It’s impossible to discuss this transfer bonus without bringing up the Asia Miles devaluation, which came into effect today.
In absolute terms, this was actually rather modest. The largest increase — to ultra long-haul Business Class awards — was just 4,000 miles, and some short-haul awards have even decreased by up to 2,000 miles.

However, this doesn’t tell the full story. Asia Miles has now carried out three devaluations in quick succession —one this month, another last year in April 2025, and before that in October 2023. Taken collectively, these have resulted in a significant increase in the cost of long-haul Business Class awards, which are now 40% more expensive compared to less than three years ago.

There are still some destinations for which Asia Miles compares favourably to KrisFlyer, but you need to factor in the additional stop in Hong Kong, and Cathay Pacific’s fuel surcharges, which have escalated sharply in recent weeks.

So if you spot an award you like, then by all means, take advantage of this transfer bonus. Ideally however, I would wait to see if those fuel surcharges come down a bit before booking. Remember: if you make a booking now and fuel surcharges decrease later, you won’t get any refund.

What else can you do with Max Miles?
HeyMax’s partner list keeps growing every week, with the company setting an ambitious target of 50 airline and hotel partners by 2027.
All the partners with a Direct tag support in-app transfers via the HeyMax app (usually instant, but not always). For all other partners, HeyMax will issue a prepaid Visa card to purchase points from the relevant programme.

You can also cash out Max Miles at 1.8 cents each via the FlyAnywhere option, so there’s no reason to ever choose any programme where the per point value is below this threshold.
Conclusion
For the next month, HeyMax is offering an uncapped 20% bonus on transfers from Max Miles to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles.
This could be a lucrative opportunity to book awards like Singapore to Hong Kong for just 7,500 Max Miles in Economy, or to select European destinations for 75,833 Max Miles in Business Class. That said, Cathay Pacific’s higher fuel surcharges do take some of the shine off these redemptions.
I’m personally planning to transfer just enough Max Miles to trigger the bonuses under the Cathay Anniversary Miles Rewards campaign, and wait until the end of May to see if fuel surcharges ease (unlikely, I know).
