Hilton Diamond status match now available

Well, that escalated quickly. In response to the very bad news of Marriott buying Starwood, Hyatt saw an opportunity to swoop in and get some of Starwood’s most loyal customers through a status match. Apparently, more than 10,000 people applied for this (although not all were Starwood Platinums and not all who applied were approved)

Now Hilton is getting in on this too with a status match of its own. As posted by Hilton’s FT representative

Weโ€™re winding down for the Thanksgiving holiday and, as a heads up, I will be out of the office until Monday, but I wanted to let you know about our status match programโ€ฆ

Weโ€™ve been receiving a number of requests and yes, we do match status from other programs and weโ€™d love to be your travel home.

  1. We are matching status for 2016. To make sure youโ€™re all set for the year, please submit your request by January 11, 2016. Youโ€™ll enjoy that status through March 2017.
  2. All you need is something that shows your elite tier in another program and an HHonors number.
  3. Email us at HHonorMyStatus@hilton.com and weโ€™ll help get you started.

Please note it may take a couple of days to process given the Thanksgiving holiday. We promise to process requests as quickly as possible and any request submitted prior to January 11, 2016, will be processed in time to enjoy your new status for the entire year.

Safe travels,
Ashleigh

They say they will take applications until 11th Jan 2016, ย but given how quickly Hyatt’s promotion got out of hand, I would be skeptical about this lasting too long.

Interestingly enough they are not even asking for proof of stay- so you could use your Hyatt Diamond status (if you got matched) to get Hilton Diamond. That said, you obviously only got Hyatt Diamond by showing Hyatt some proof of stay with another chain so this requirement shouldn’t be a problem anyhow if you got matched.

I already have Hilton Diamond and although the published benefits are not great (no guaranteed suite upgrades), it has helped me with service recovery events.

Go for it!

Love your posts! I used to travel a bit for work so I racked up some miles and hotel status. All of a sudden I stop traveling and I can really feel the pain of slowly losing my platinum status with SPG and Marriott. Thanks to your recent posts about Hyatt and Hilton status matches. I just emailed them requesting for status match! Fingers crossed.
