I got a tip off from a reader that from now till 30 Sept, Citibank Premiermiles is offering 2,000 bonus miles when you add a supplementary cardholder to your account and spend any amount on that supplementary card.
Remember that miles earned from spending on the supplementary card are pooled with the main cardholder’s miles. The bonus miles will credit within 2 months from the end of the promotion period.
Unfortunately, the T&C of this promotion seem to suggest that it is targeted. That said, I think I’ve opted out of Citibank promotional emails so I would definitely give them a call to see whether my account is eligible for this promotion.
Only Citi PremierMiles Visa Card main cardholders who are invited to participate in this Promotion (electronically or otherwise) are eligible to participate in this Promotion (“Eligible Cardholders”).Citibank reserves the right to determine the Eligible Cardholders. |
If it’s a few minutes work for 2,000 miles you know I’ll definitely jump on it. There is no incremental annual fee for having a supplementary card.
My main gripe with Citibank is that I’m unclear whether or not you can call up the CSO and ask them to pool your ThankYou points (from Citibank Rewards cards) and your PremierMiles for redemption in order to only pay one redemption fee. You definitely can’t do that online because they’re two different currencies.
On the plus side, Citibank Premiermiles are one of the more valuable award currencies in Singapore because they can transfer to a whole range of airlines (DBS/UOB/HSBC only offer Asiamiles and Krisflyer, for comparison)
1 Citi Mile = 1 Mile with:
- KrisFlyer
- Asia Miles
- Royal Orchid Plus
- SkyMiles
- Executive Club
- Enrich
- Infinity MileageLands
Garuda Frequent Flyer- Etihad Guest
- Qantas
- Qatar
- Flying Blue
Hotel Loyalty Programs:
1 Citi Mile = 1 IHG Rewards Club point
1 Citi Mile = 1.5 Hilton HHonors points
Other than Krisflyer, which airlines would you recommend for travelling within Asia?
hi there eelta! you got to help me out a bit more here because that’s quite vague. what are you looking at? price? luxury? are you asking what FFP is worth accruing miles with? or are you just talking about which other airlines apart from SQ i enjoy? If so, I love ANA and Eva, both have excellent hard and soft products and I wouldn’t hesitate to fly with either. I’m neither here nor there with Thai, but I’m going to be trying their F product in a few weeks so stay tuned for that.
I am looking for redeeming BIZ using Citibank Rewards on any FFP other than KF. I do not see ANA as in the list though.
if you want ANA you should look at lifemiles. they have good availability generally
Would the PremierMiles from the Visa Card and the AMEX card be pooled?
Hi Peter, I have both the Visa and Amex, and they are most definitely not pooled. There are separate miles balances in each statement for each card. It is incredibly annoying. This means (technically) that to redeem your miles for a trip, you have got to pay twice; once for each credit card account. Having said that, I got extremely pissed off with this arrangement once and called Citibank to point out how ridiculous this was. Their solution was to “transfer” my miles from one account to another. This way I only had to redeem all my miles from the… Read more »
thanks for this piece of info. that is really dumb if you have to jump through so many hoops just to redeem.
Just to confirm that this is really by invite only. I tried calling to ask and they said if you were not invited, no bonus 2000 miles for you.
