Introducing The Milelion’s Den, a happy place to be

I wish that I could be like the cool kids.

One of the goals for 2018 was to expand and build out the miles and points community in Singapore and the region. To that end, The Milelion is organizing monthly meetups, hosting an awesome Masterclass event (and given how quickly it sold out, more to come!) and creating community spaces where miles and points enthusiasts can share their experiences holding up the line while trying to get the cashier aunty to accept MST.

With regards to community spaces, we launched a Telegram Group back in December 2017 which at last count had just under 1,600 members. I love the Telegram Group because it’s a place for instantaneous communication (miles and points, 24/7) and really helps me get to know readers better in a casual setting. However, the pace of the group is not for everyone, and the torrent of information can be overwhelming if you’re easing into it for the first time. Moreover, there may be situations where the answer to your question is not so time-sensitive and you’d rather trade speed for organization.

So I’m pleased today to announce the launch of The Milelion’s Den, a Facebook community page that offers threaded discussions and a more permanent place to share announcements, media or events. Just post your question…

…and see? In no time at all I got no fewer than two very helpful, totally relevant answers from seasoned professionals.

The Telegram and Facebook groups are meant to complement one another, and ultimately we’ll see each develop its own unique character. Although I wanted to make it an open group, I’ve been told that it’s best practice to have a screening question to block spambots and Nigerian royalty. There’s just a simple screening question with no right or wrong answer (please don’t leave it blank though, as it’s an anti-spam measure). Send in your request and we’ll have you in the group in no time.
