Qatar Airways is running another fare sale over the weekend where you can get fares to select destinations for as low as S$849 in economy class and from S$2,989 in business class. To see these sale fares, you must enter the codeย “VISAWKD”ย in the Promo Code field when performing your booking on the Qatar Airways website. This sale ends onย 15 April 2018 at 2359 and tickets booked during this sale are valid for travel from now untilย 10 December 2018.ย

Select destinations on offer
During this sale, only select destinations are on offer and Qatar Airways didn’t publish a list of destinations which are participating in this sale so you’ll have to hope and pray that your destination of choice is participating.
To be completely sure if the destination you’re heading to is participating in the sale, you should see a red star at the bottom left corner of the fare box being shown when you perform your search on the Qatar Airways website. However, do take note that there are some instances that the “Economy Promo” fares are lower than the fares being offered as part of their Visa weekend sale.
Taking the example of Paris (CDG), I can see that it is one of the destination that’s on offer in this sale as it has the red star and its lowest price is also the Visa weekend promo fare :
Double Qmiles and Qpoints
For tickets booked during this promotion with Qatar Airways, you’ll be eligible to earn double the Qmiles and 50% more Qpoints that you would normally get with your ticket. Qmiles are the award miles that can be put towards a flight redemption on Qatar Airways and Qpoints are used for the purpose of attaining elite status in the Privilege Club program.
In this promo, a one-way ticket to London in the “O” fare bucket would ordinarily net you 1,776 Qmiles and 20 Qpoints. However if your ticket is booked during this promotional period by 15 April 2018, you would earn 3,552 Qmiles and 30 Qpoints instead and a return ticket would thus net you approximately 7,000 Qmiles and 60 Qpoints. Personally I find that Qmiles are rather hard to redeem with Privilege Club but the 50% bonus in Qpoints earning would definitely help if you’re chasing elite status in the Privilege Club program.
Concluding thoughts
Do poke around on the Qatar Airways website to see if there are any fares which take your fancy. Just a reminder again that the Visa weekend fares might not be the lowest available ones on offer.
As always, here’s a list of cards you can use to perform your booking.ย The T&C do not explicitly require you to use a Visa, but it is possible the transaction will not go through unless you use one (in which case the DBS Altitude Visa would be your best bet).
(Edit : the booking engineย only accepts Visa when you use theย VISAWKDย code, I’ve amended the table to reflect which Visa cards you could use)
Credit Card | Miles Per Dollar | Bonus Spend Cap |
DBS Altitude | 3 | Capped at S$5,000 for online airfare and hotels per month |
HSBC Revolution/Maybank Horizonย Visa Signature | 2 | No cap forย HSBC Revolution. Maybank requires you to spend min $300 a month to earn 2 mpd on air tickets. Bonus TREATS points are capped at 30,000 per month, or $7,500 of pure airline spending |
