The ongoing Best Western Rewards status match program

Receive a status match to the Best Western Rewards program with proof of status in a competing chain.

Best Western has been running its status match programme for quite some time now where if you’re currently holding status in competitor hotel chain (i.e SPG, Marriott, Hilton etc.) you might be eligible for a status match in their Best Western Rewards program.

Best Western Rewards has a total of 5 status tiers. Their base tier is Blue and at the highest end of the spectrum is Diamond Select. Similar to how you would qualify for status with other hotel chains, to get from one tier to another you would have to clock either nights or stays within the Best Western portfolio. One interesting thing about Best Western Rewards is that points earned in this program will never expire, which means the 3000 odd points I earned way back in 2015 are still intact in my Best Western Account.

You can find the perks associated with each status level in the screenshot below.

How to get matched?

All you have to do to obtain status in Best Western Rewards(BWR) is to show proof of status with a competing chain. The best part about this is that they’re not even asking for a proof of stay unlike the status match program that’s currently going on with Hilton.

So theoretically speaking you could get your complimentary Hilton Honors Silver status from your American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Ascend card (but in reality, everyone can sign up for it even if you don’t hold the card) and request for a match to Best Western Rewards Gold/Platinum.

Personally, I got my Hilton Gold status matched to Best Western Rewards Diamond, so my guess is that those of you with SPG Platinum, Hilton Diamond or any other top tier status would easily get matched to Diamond Select in BWR.

If you’re heading to a location where there is a lack of your traditional chain hotels and even there’s a Best Western chain in the area, holding status with Best Western Rewards might just come in handy. I’ve stayed at the Best Western Grosvenor Hotel located in Stratford-upon-Avon and it was sufficient for a nights stay, it was close to the town center too as compared to the Crowne Plaza located in the town.

Why is this potentially useful?

Having elite status with a competing chain might come in handy in the future for a potential status match back to the more mainstream chain hotels loyalty programs, the icing on the cake is that Best Western Rewards doesn’t require you to have a prior stay this year in a competing chain before getting matched.

Do you think they will status match to GHA Black?

Chris

I got matched to Diamond using AccorPlus Gold.
But I dont think I will make use of any stay in Best Western. Maybe just a underutilised membershi card for me.

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for the article. My question for you is…do you know of any programs that status match FROM Best Western? As in…if I have BW Rewards Diamond, is there any other program out there that I can match it to?

Thanks so much!
Lauren
