Hilton is holding a points sale where you will receive up to 50% discount on your points purchases. This points sale is ongoing and will end atย 11:59am 16 August 2018 (GMT +8).ย My account was targeted for a 30% discount but I have received reports that some folks were getting 40% and 50% discounts on purchased points on their Hilton Honors account, so it’s best you log in to check how much of a discount you are being offered! (Thanks to the folks in the Milelion Telegram group!)
There is a purchase cap of 80,000 Hilton Honors points per calendar year and if you have reached the purchase cap for the year, you could always make use of your family member’s Hilton Honors account to purchase points and pool your points together to get around the purchase cap.
If you are targeted for a 50% discount, you will be purchasing points at the same cost during sales which offer 100% bonuses.

Purchase 5,000 Hilton Honors points and above to trigger your targeted discount
To receive your targeted discount from Hilton for points purchases, you must purchase 5,000 Hilton Honors points and above. My account was targeted for only a 30% discount (sad) so with the 30% discount on points purchases above 5,000 Hilton Honors points, I will be purchasing Hilton Honors points at a cost ofย 0.7 US Cents per point.ย Here’s how much it’ll cost per point depending on the discount your account is targeted for:
- 50% discount : US 0.5 Cents per point
- 40% discount: US 0.6 Cents per point
- 30% discount: US 0.7 Cents per point
Concluding Thoughts
If your account is targeted with a 50% discount, then it would be a good time to purchase Hilton Honors points if you have an upcoming redemption use for them. If you are buying points for the purpose of redeeming at a property where you would normally never pay with cash (i.e Conrad Maldives) but was not targeted with the 50% discount, I would recommend checking out the Summer Sale rates which are on offer as it could potentially be cheaper than purchasing points.

Thanks for the update.
This one is not as good as good as bonus points. Max only 80k.
And sadly my family accounts only get 40%.
Data point: hhonors gold, 50%
but but…i’m Honors Gold too
My 2 accounts just registered in April, then realised that need at least 90 days to buy points.
Seems random.
