British Airways Executive Club is having a promotion where you will earn double Avios on all British Airways flights and select partner flights. Registration is required for this promotion.ย You must register, book and fly by 31 December 2018 to be eligible to earn double Avios.
Register, book and fly to earn 2X Avios
In this promotion, you will earn doubleย base Aviosย for up toย 10 sectors flown on British Airways and select partner airlines.ย You will not receive double Avios on the additional Avios awarded due to the class of service (i.e if you’re flying in Premium Economy, Business or First) or on the additional Avios awarded due to your Executive Club tier.
An important thing to note is that your flightย bookings must be madeย afterย registering for this promotion in order for them to qualify for earning double Avios. That’s to say if you have booked a British Airways flight to Sydney before registering for the promotion, then the entire trip will not qualify for earning double Avios.
These are the types of flights which will be eligible to earn double Avios in this promotion:
- If your ticket has a BA prefix on any selling class (excluding Reward flights) or cabin on any BA operated service
- Flights with a BA prefix on a transatlantic flight operated by British Airways (BA), American Airlines (AA), Iberia (IB) or Finnair (AY) between Europe and North America.
- Domestic flights within the UK and Southern Africa (operated by Comair), Sunnair and CityFlyer
As mentioned earlier, you will only earn double Avios on the first 10 sectors flown on eligible flights. For those who are unaware, if you’re flying from Singapore to London to New York on British Airways, this makes up 2 sectors and a return trip will make up 4 sectors.
The double Avios will be awarded after each sector has been flown.
Concluding Thoughts
If you are planning to fly on British Airways for your upcoming holidays and have not booked your tickets yet, remember to register for this promotion first before booking your flights. Avios can come in particularly handy for flights around the region and for short haul to medium haul flights too.ย
However, apart from the exceptions for BA marketed flights on American Airlines, Iberia and Finnair flights when travelling between Europe and North America, no other BA codeshare or franchise flight will count. You wonโt get double Avios on, for example, a Bangkok Airways, Qatar Airways, Vueling or Flybe flight with a BA flight number.
Amended! Thank you.
This promo is always a bit of smoke and mirrors. Airfares for all routes have increased when compared to spring this year to account for increased Avios. So effectively you’re buying the extra Avios by paying more.
