48 hours left: Up to 100% bonus on Hilton Honors points

Hilton doubles the purchase cap on purchased points for this new sale. Purchase Hilton Honors points at US 0.5 cents a piece.

Hilton runs frequent points sales throughout the year where they offer either bonuses or discounts when you purchase points. Hilton is back with another points sale where purchasing at least 10,000 Hilton Honors points gets you up to a 100% bonus. This new points sale runs from now until 12:59 pm 19 December 2018 Singapore Time.

Buy Hilton Points with up to a 100% bonus here

Note that not everyone is targeted for the 100% bonus- some readers report only getting a 80% bonus. You’ll need to click this link and login to your Hilton account to see what offer you got.

Purchase cap doubled, buy up to 160,000 Hilton Honors points pre-bonus

In addition to receiving up to a 100% bonus on purchased points, Hilton has doubled the number of points you can buy pre-bonus from 80,000 to 160,000 Hilton Honors points a year during this points sale.

This means you can get up to an eye-popping 320,000 Hilton Honors points during this sale if you were targeted with a 100% bonus. If you do decide to purchase the maximum allowable amount of Hilton Honors points in this sale, you are looking at getting 320,000 Hilton Honors points for a total of US$1,600.

Purchasing Hilton Honors points with a 100% bonus will equate to a cost per point of US 0.5 Cents per point which is the lowest publicly available price you can purchase Hilton Honors points for.

For those of you who are only targeted with an 80% bonus, you will be purchasing Hilton Honors points at US 0.56 cents each which is still a good price to pick them up for if you have an upcoming use for them.

Use Hilton Honors points to unlock cheap nights at aspirational properties

Purchasing Hilton Honors points is a great way to snag a stay at a luxurious property for much less. Take for instance the classic example of the Conrad Maldives, an award night at the Conrad Maldives goes for 95,000 Hilton Honors points a night for its Water Villas whereas paid rates can cost as much as US$992 a night.

If you purchase Hilton Honors points at a 100% bonus during this sale and use those points at the Conrad Maldives, you will effectively be paying only US$475 a night. Remember that if you’re a Silver member or above, you get the 5th night free on awards, reducing the overall cost to US$380 a night. Hilton Honors Silver status is offered to all AmEx KrisFlyer Ascend credit card holders so it is fairly easy to obtain.

What’s even better is that if you are using Hilton Honors points to book your stay, your reservation is much more flexible as it gives you the option to cancel your booking without any penalty up to 24 hours prior to your stay compared to paying the lowest available rate which is usually a non-refundable rate.

Get savings even at ‘normal’ properties

Even at city hotels such as the DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur, purchasing Hilton Honors points for your stay might save you some money over paying the cash rate. A Hilton Honors reward night would set you back 10,000 Hilton Honors points per night, which would cost you US$50 if you purchased points in this sale.

The cash rate at this hotel hovers around US$86 on the Honours Discount rate which has the same cancellation policy as the points redemption rate. Again, you will be coming out ahead if you purchase Hilton Honors points for your stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

I have reviewed this hotel in December 2017 and found it to be rather decent.

DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur Review

If you were thinking of heading across the Causeway for a staycation, the DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru now costs 20,000 Hilton Honors points a night, up from 10,000 a few months before. Hilton no longer publishes award charts, which means its free to change hotel costs at will. This is more a concern for the lower category hotels, because the upper end is still fixed at a maximum of 95,000 points a night.

Concluding Thoughts

Being able to purchase up to a whopping 320,000 Hilton Honors points is great and if you have been eyeing a Hilton property for your upcoming holidays but are put off by its cash rate, you might want to check if it might be cheaper to get your stay through purchasing Hilton Honors points to “pay” for your stay compared to paying the cash rate.

The purchase of Hilton Honors points are processed by points.com and are charged in US$. You might want to consider using these cards to maximize your points return from the purchase of Hilton Honors points:

  • BOC Elite Miles World Mastercard: 5 mpd, uncapped
  • UOB Visa Signature: 4 mpd, minimum $1,000, maximum $2,000 per statement period
  • DBS Woman’s World Mastercard: 4 mpd, capped at $2,000 per month. You may need to manually appeal to get the bonus 2.8 mpd credited
  • Citibank Rewards: 4 mpd, capped at $1,000 per statement month
  • SCB Visa Infinite: 3 mpd, min $2K spend per statement period

What are the validity of the points?

Xersion

one year if no activities on your points

JDunlop

I’ve browsed through some dates for Conrad HK and points required came out from 250k to 400+k! Per night! My eyes playing tricks or app having a glitch?!?

Ken

You’re right, Matthew.. but also, with Hilton introducing ‘dynamic’ award points requirements, no more charts to refer to.. rates now float and have become moving targets..

Ken

@JDunlop.. You’re not wrong.. Go look at Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, which, like Conrad HK, on paper, 95,000.. but once you actually attempt to book, ‘better’ properties and at ‘high’ seasons, you may well wind up in the floor when you see how many points are needed..

RTK

Seems like, if you qualify for 80% bonus, you can only buy a max 80000 points as opposed to 160000 🙁

There seems to be no benefit or ‘normal’ properties.
I found booking through tripadvisor cheaper for most hotels in bali, HK, toronto, vancouver (places i want to visit).
Ultimately you are paying in $$ either by buying hilton points or directly booking from agoda using cash.
Is there any trick to book using hilton poits at final $$ cheaper than agoda?

benefit for*

Chris

Seems like Hilton Okinawa Chatan not a good deal. 48k pts for std room which = USD240.
Book direct is around JPY17800 which = SGD220.
