American Express has pushed out a new round of merchant-specific discounts, which complement the ongoing bonus miles offers on the AMEX KrisFlyer cards. Aaron has covered the fantastic promotion for Hilton bookings here, but here’s a round up of what else is available.
The Luxury Collection: spend S$300 or more, get S$60 back
For those of you who are unaware, The Luxury Collection is a brand which belongs to the Marriott group of hotels.
In this promotion, simply spend S$300 or more in one or more transactions to receive S$60 rebate from AMEX. This represents a 20% cashback on your hotel bookings. This offer is only available for one-time use and is valid for bookings made at selected Luxury Collection hotels in Mainland China, India, Japan & Thailand.
|Edit: The Platinum Charge card’s offer sees you getting back S$90, up from S$60 for the Luxury Collection offer. (Thanks Happy Camper!)|
You have to make your booking online on the Marriott website, through the Marriott application, through the Marriott call centre or directly at the property. Here’s a graphical representation of all the Luxury Collection hotels that are participating in this promotion:
The closest properties to Singapore which are participating are four hotels in Thailand:
- The Athenee Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel
- Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, A Luxury Collection Hotel
- Vana Belle, A Luxury Collection Resort
- The Naka Island, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa
Here are the full terms and conditions of this promotion:
This promotion is capped at the first 5,000 cardholders who save the offer to their cards through the AMEX mobile application. Both main and supplementary cardholders are eligible for this promotion.
United Airlines: Spend S$800, get S$100 back
If you are booking a trip to the United States and are thinking of flying with United, there is an offer for you. Simply spend S$800 or more to receive S$100 back. This represents an effective 12.5% rebate.
To qualify for the rebate, the amount charged has to be in Singapore Dollars and the payment must be done for flight bookings through the Singapore website of United Airlines. This is valid for payments made by 30 September 2019.
The spending threshold of S$800 shouldn’t be an issue to hit given that flights to the United States cost upwards of S$800. This offer is for the first 12,000 cardmembers who save the offer to their AMEX credit card through the AMEX mobile application. Both main and supplementary cardholders are eligible for this offer.
Telco Offer: S$10 back
This promotion applies to bill payments for Circles.Life, M1, MyRepublic or StarHub.
For Circles.Life and MyRepublic, you simply have to charge your Circles.Life and MyRepublic bills to your AMEX credit card online to trigger the S$10 rebate. For StarHub and M1, you must charge your recurring billing option to your registered AMEX card to trigger the S$10 rebate.
This promotion is for the first 15,000 cardmembers who save the offer to their AMEX cards through the AMEX mobile application. Both main and supplementary cardholders are eligible for this offer.
I particularly like the hotel cashback promotions that AMEX is having as you will still earn the full number of points based on the actual rate paid to the hotel, but you will be paying less for your stay thanks to the cashback from AMEX.
Be on the lookout for more offers in the AMEX app.
