PARKROYAL Pickering reopening for staycation guests from 1 November

PARKROYAL Pickering has announced its reopening date, and Trip.com voucher holders can make their bookings too.

I’ve had my eye on the PARKROYAL Pickering for a while now, ever since Trip.com offered an awesome rate for a club room back in July. It was initially thought that the hotel would be used as an SHN facility for the rest of 2020, and earlier this month Trip.com even called up some voucher holders and asked if they wanted to cancel for a full refund.

So it’s a pleasant surprise to learn that PARKROYAL Pickering will be reopening to staycation guests from 1 November 2020. As per their Facebook page:

PARKROYAL Pickering is currently offering several staycation packages, the main one being “Staycay Everyday”. This features:

  • Choice of ONE from the following 3 privileges from Monday to Thursday, please indicate selected privilege in the PERSONALIZE YOUR STAY section when booking:
    • Guaranteed early check-in at 11:00 a.m
    • Guaranteed late check-out until 4:00 p.m
    • Complimentary upgrade to next room category
  • Complimentary accommodation for up to 2 children under 12 years based on existing bedding
  • 20% savings at St. Gregory spa
  • 30% savings on Food and Beverage at hotel operated dining outlets for Pan Pacific DISCOVERY members
  • “Pan Pacific Cares” pack upon arrival
  • No deposit required, guest may cancel without penalty up to 48 hours prior to arrival

If you sign up for the GHA Discovery program, you’ll enjoy a further 10% off. Since it’s free-to-join anyway, I’ll be quoting the member rates below:

Room Size Price
Urban Room 28-32 sqm S$196++*
Lifestyle Room 28-32 sqm S$223++*
Signature Room 37 sqm S$241++*
COLLECTION Room 28-32 sqm S$277++
Urban Junior Suite 48 sqm S$286++*
COLLECTION Lifestyle Room 28-32 sqm S$295++
COLLECTION Signature Room 37 sqm S$331++
COLLECTION Lifestyle Junior Suite 48 sqm S$382++
COLLECTION Signature Suite 73 sqm S$459++
*Add S$27++ per night for breakfast for 2 adults. COLLECTION rooms already come with free breakfast in the lounge

The rates above reflect check-ins from Sunday to Thursday; if you want to check-in on Friday or Saturday, you’ll pay about 5% more (and you won’t have the choice of 11 a.m check-in, 4 p.m check-out, or a room upgrade).

A common trend I’ve noticed among reopening hotels is their initial staycation rates are quite competitive, but shoot up a couple weeks later as they realise people missed them more than they thought (looking at you, Shangri-La). If you’re planning to book, I highly advise you not to hesitate- the rates are refundable up to 48 hours before arrival, anyway.

GHA Black members who book direct will enjoy the usual perks, including a two-category upgrade. It’s unclear whether this will stack with the one-category upgrade for Sunday to Thursday stays, but if so, you could potentially pay just S$196++ and get upgraded to a COLLECTION Room.

Note: Some reports from past guests say that it’s the hotel’s policy not to upgrade into the club room category. YMMV.

COLLECTION rooms are the PARKROYAL Pickering’s club lounge category, and come with the following benefits:

  • Exclusive access to rooftop Orchid Club Lounge with 360-views of city skyline
  • Champagne breakfast from 6.30 a.m to 10.30 a.m
  • All-day refreshments (non-alcoholic)
  • Afternoon tea from 2.00 p.m to 4.00 p.m
  • Evening cocktails from 6.00 p.m to 8.00 p.m
  • Complimentary local calls from your room and internet access
  • 2 pieces of laundry per room per day non-accumulative (excl.dry cleaning)
  • Complimentary one-hour usage of Club Boardroom per room per stay (subject to availability)

Do note that guests above the age of 12 are welcome at the Orchid Club.

What about Trip.com vouchers?

You may recall that back in July, Trip.com ran a flash sale for the PARKROYAL Pickering. For S$253 nett, you could get a voucher for a one night stay in an Urban room, with COLLECTION club lounge access. They even threw in two city tour bus tickets for good measure.

The good news is that PARKROYAL Pickering has synced its availability with Trip.com, so you can redeem your voucher anywhere from 1 November 2020 onwards.

I’ve made a booking for the first week of reopening, so I can get a review out ASAP. The hotel is of course not obliged to offer any GHA Black benefits on third party bookings, but it never hurts to try your luck after the confirmation is sent.

I must have driven past the PARKROYAL Pickering countless times back when I worked in the CBD, and I’m excited to finally get the chance to stay.  Let’s hope the service and overall experience match up to the gorgeous architecture.

Anyone stayed at the PARKROYAL Pickering pre-CB? What was the stay like?

Parkroyal Pickering is one of my fav SG hotels for staycations. It’s a great place to hole up for a personal retreat. The food isn’t what I’ll deem to be great but the location is fantastic if you want to go for a morning / evening walk along the river. The rooms are lovely. I had a double upgrade because GHA Black status and I managed to snag a corner junior suite room which is the one room type that I enjoyed the most. Another one is the garden room (I think that is what its called.) Not bad too..… Read more »

Pan Pac members also enjoys additional 10% on room rates so the rates will be same as booking under GHA. Does booking under GHA has the same perks as booking under Pan Pac members?
