In a sign that air travel isn’t expected to return to normal in 2021, Singapore Airlines has announced a further 12 months status extension for PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Silver/Gold members.
This is on top of the existing 12 months extension announced back in April 2020. All members with status expiring from March 2021 to February 2022 will receive an automatic extension for an additional year.
โ ๏ธ This supersedes the previous initiatives announced in September 2020, whereby the requirement was only cut by 50%. |
Singapore Airlines will also be extending PPS Reserve Value and KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards (formerly known as Elite Gold Rewards), and rolling over Elite Miles to the following year.

Renewal Support Scheme for PPS Club members
Back in September 2020, Singapore Airlines announced that it would automatically credit 50% of the PPS Value required for requalification, for memberships expiring between March 2021 and February 2022.
Now, the full amount of PPS Value will be credited as Reserve Value instead. There are two possible scenarios here.
Scenario A: For members whose PPS Club membership has already been renewed under the 1-year automatic status renewal scheme from March 2020 to February 2021
Membership Tier as of 8 Sep 2020 | Tier renewal end-date as of 8 Sep 2020 | PPS Value Credited (as Reserve Value) |
|
1st batch | 2nd batch | ||
Solitaire PPS Club (qualified after 1 Jun 2018) | Mar-Aug 2021 | 25,000 by 31 Oct 2020 |
25,000 by 31 Jan 2021 |
Solitaire PPS Club (qualified before 1 Jun 2018) | 12,500 by 31 Oct 2020 |
12,500 by 31 Jan 2021 |
|
PPS Club | 12,500 by 31 Oct 2020 |
12,500 by 31 Jan 2021 |
Scenario B: For members whose PPS Club membership has yet to be renewed under the 1-year automatic status renewal scheme from March 2020 to February 2021
Membership Tier as of 8 Sep 2020 | Tier renewal end-date as of 8 Sep 2020 | Tier renewal end-date in the following year | PPS Value Credited (as Reserve Value) |
Solitaire PPS Club (qualified after 1 Jun 2018) | Sep 2020 to Feb 2021 | Sep 2021 to Feb 2022 | 50,000 by 31 Mar 2021 |
Solitaire PPS Club (qualified before 1 Jun 2018) | 25,000 by 31 Mar 2021 |
||
PPS Club | 25,000 by 31 Mar 2021 |
The PPS Value credited as Reserve Value will not count towards the PPS Value required to earn the various PPS Rewards.
PPS Reserve Value Extension
Singapore Airlines will be extending the Reserve Value for PPS Club members as follows:
Reserve Value Expiring In… | Will Be Extended To… |
|
|
Extension of Reserve Value validity period will only take place in March 2021, regardless of your qualification date.
Some examples are shown below:
KrisFlyer Elite Members
KrisFlyer Elite Silver/Gold extension
Renewal Support Scheme for KrisFlyer Elite members
Back in September 2020, Singapore Airlines announced that all KrisFlyer Elite Silver/Gold members would receive 50% of the Elite Miles required for requalification, for memberships expiring from March 2021 to February 2022.
Now, they’ll simply be renewing Elite Gold/Silver status for another year. As such, there will be no crediting of Elite Miles; your status will simply be automatically extended at the end of the membership year.
Elite Miles Rollover
Singapore Airlines will roll over any Elite Miles earned during the current membership year (starting March 2020 to February 2021) to the following membership year (starting March 2021 to February 2022).
For example, if I earned 5,000 Elite Miles this year and my membership year ends in May, I’ll carry those 5,000 Elite Miles over to the new membership year starting in June. Do note that your elite miles will first be reset to zero upon membership extension, and re-credited to you within two months from the start of your new membership cycle. In other words- don’t panic if you see it reset.
This covers all Elite Miles, whether earned through flying, or through the various on-ground requalification schemes that Singapore Airlines came up with last year (such as converting KrisFlyer miles, or spending at KrisShop).
KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards (formerly Elite Gold Rewards) extended
KrisFlyer has renamed the erstwhile Elite Gold Rewards “KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards”, and extended all awards expiring between July-December 2020 to 31 December 2021.
This includes:
- Double KrisFlyer Miles Reward
- Short-haul Advanced Upgrade
- Premium Economy Advance Upgrade
The extended validity of KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards will be reflected in your account progressively before your rewards expire.

KrisFlyer miles have already been extended
Singapore Airlines has already announced three sets of KrisFlyer miles extensions, in April, June, and October 2020. All KrisFlyer miles expiring between April 2020 and June 2021 have been extended by 6-12 months as follows:
Original Expiry | New Expiry |
April 2020 | 30 April 2021 |
May 2020 | 31 May 2021 |
June 2020 | 30 June 2021 |
July 2020 | 31 July 2021 |
August 2020 | 31 August 2021 |
September 2020 | 30 September 2021 |
October 2020 | 31 October 2021 |
November 2020 | 30 November 2021 |
December 2020 | 31 December 2021 |
January 2021 | 31 July 2021 |
February 2021 | 31 August 2021 |
March 2021 | 30 September 2021 |
April 2021 | 31 October 2021 |
May 2021 | 30 November 2021 |
June 2021 | 31 December 2021 |
I’m highly doubtful that we’ll be flying by April 2021, so it’s almost certain that we’ll see a further round of extensions in the next couple of months.
Do note that any extension of KrisFlyer miles will only reflect at the end of the original expiry month. For example, if you have miles expiring on 31 January 2021, you will be able to see that the miles have been extended and are valid till 31 July 2020 in February 2021.
At the end of each month, you will see 2 transactions in your account statement. The first transaction will show expiring miles being debited from your account with the description “Singapore Airlines SR (Adjustment) 6 months mileage extension”. The second transaction will show the same number of expiring miles being credited back into your account with the description “Singapore Airlines SR 6 months mileage extension”.
No more membership kits for KrisFlyer Elite members
Finally, here’s a sad little note for those of you who like your physical cards and welcome packs. From 1 March 2021, Singapore Airlines will cease to send out physical membership kits to all KrisFlyer Elite members “as part of our ongoing sustainability efforts to go paperless and reduce our environmental footprint.”
I’m assuming PPS Club members will continue to receive their kits; let me know if you’ve heard otherwise.
Conclusion
If you needed a hint about Singapore Airlines’ prognosis for air travel in 2021, I think this is it. The airline clearly doesn’t expect travelers to be taking back to the skies in any great number, hence the need for an additional status extension.
This means that everyone will keep their existing status until March 2022 at least, and thanks to the various renewal initiatives, I’m seeing something I rarely see- Elite Miles in my account (most of my flights are redeemed with miles).
While it means no status anxiety for 2021, it paints a grim picture for travel in the year ahead.
My Elite Gold status expires 28 February 2021. Can anyone confirm if this will be renewed under the first renewal scheme to February 2022 (and not March 2022), and then extended again for 12 months at that point under this extension scheme (expire February 2023)?

Ironic that you’ve included a picture of the physical renewal pack – KF Gold, at least, won’t be getting these anymore.
nor KF silver (not that anyone cares about us)
i *think* pps club members will continue to get theirs.
I just received my PPS renewal pack about a week ago (though having said that my status renewed in Sep ’20)
Is there any way to obtain KF status with just CC points? Or do you need to pay for revenue tickets to get the status?
I just received PPS status. The welcome email says I will receive a physical welcome package, other communication from SIA states that these are discontinued. Can anybody confirm if physical cards for PPS are still a thing?
