CardUp CNY offer: 1.8% fee for existing customers; S$25 off for new customers

Schedule your bill payments with CardUp by 28 February 2021 and enjoy a 1.8% fee or S$25 off- a quick way to buy some highly discounted miles.

For the uninitiated, CardUp is a service that lets you pay rent, income tax, condo fees, insurance, car loans, electricity bills and more with your credit card, earning miles and points in the process.

To mark CNY, CardUp is offering new customers S$25 off the CardUp fee on their first payment of S$500 or more with the code HUAT25ML. Existing customers can enjoy a discounted fee of 1.8% (usual: 2.6%) with the code HUAT18 on a one-off payment, or the first two payments in a recurring series.

The HUAT25ML code is valid for CardUp account holders who have not yet scheduled a payment. Users will enjoy S$25 off their first payment of at least S$500.

Based on CardUp’s regular fee of 2.6%, you can earn free miles on a payment of up to S$960. Even if your payment is larger than this, your cost per mile will still be very low, as illustrated below:

  If your card earns…
  1.2 mpd 1.3 mpd 1.4 mpd 1.6 mpd
S$1,000 0.08 0.07 0.07 0.06
S$2,000 1.10 1.01 0.94 0.82

S$4,000 1.60 1.48 1.37 1.20
S$5,000 1.71 1.57 1.46 1.28

There’s a cap of 300 redemptions for this promo code, but not to worry- you’ll be able to see if the code is still valid before confirming your payment.

All payments must be set up on or before 28 February 2021, with the payment due date on or before 31 March 2021. Only Singapore-issued Mastercard or Visa cards are eligible. Should you have an American Express card, you can use the code AMEXNEW instead to enjoy a 1.6% fee.

The full T&C of this promotion can be found here.

A: Yes. Suppose you make a payment of $100 with a promotional fee of 1.99%. The total amount charged to your card is $101.99, and you’ll earn miles based on $101.99 of spending

If you haven’t made your first payment with CardUp yet, this is an easy way to accrue some highly discounted miles. Remember to set up your payments before 28 February 2021 to be eligible.

As most cards already exclude points for insurance and education, CardUp may be your only option for earning rewards on such transactions.
