Register now: Easy 2,500 KrisFlyer miles for AMEX SIA Business Credit Card members

Earn 500 HighFlyer points for every contactless transaction made with the AMEX SIA Business Card, up to 10 times. Registration required.

This is likely to have limited appeal, but if you hold an AMEX SIA Business Card, there’s an excellent new offer to earn 5,000 HighFlyer points (2,500 KrisFlyer miles or S$50 cash with SIA), pretty much free-of-charge.

Like all AMEX Offers, this is targeted, so if you don’t see it in the app or online it means you’re not eligible. You could try to call up American Express customer service and ask to be manually registered, but there’s no guarantee you’ll be successful.

❓ What are AMEX Offers?

AMEX Offers are opportunities to earn bonus miles or Membership Rewards points, or discounts in the form of statement credits. These are available to Platinum, True Cashback, and KrisFlyer cobrand cardholders, and can be found in the “Offers” section of the AMEX app or web portal.

Registration is required, and some offers may be targeted. These are not applicable to DBS/Citi/UOB AMEX cardholders.

Up to 5,000 bonus HighFlyer points with contactless spend

From now till 16 August 2021, targeted American Express cardholders can earn 500 bonus HighFlyer points for every contactless, online or in-app payment made with their AMEX SIA Business Card, up to 10 times.

✈️ What is HighFlyer?

HighFlyer is Singapore Airlines’ loyalty program for SMEs. The program is free to join and does not require any minimum spend commitment; all you need to sign up is an ACRA business registration number.

HighFlyer is essentially a cash rebate scheme. Companies earn 5 HighFlyer points per S$1 spent on Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, Scoot, Lufthansa, and SWISS (excluding airport fees and government taxes), and can redeem them at a rate of 1,000 HighFlyer points= S$10. This is an effective rebate of 5%, which may not sound like a lot to consumers, but makes a world of difference for cash-strapped SMEs.

HighFlyer points are valid for 3 years, and cannot be earned on Q, N, V and K booking classes (i.e Economy Lite fares). They can be converted into KrisFlyer miles for nominated employees at a rate of 2 HighFlyer points= 1 KrisFlyer mile.

Registration is required, and is capped at 500 cards. Contactless payments are defined as those made through:

  • American Express Contactless
  • Amex Pay
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Samsung Pay

You should see the bonus points credited to your card account within 5 business days after the qualifying spend, but it may take up to 90 days from the offer end date. In my experience these post very fast, so you shouldn’t have to wait long.

This is basically 5,000 free HighFlyer points, which can be converted to 2,500 KrisFlyer miles or used to offset Singapore Airlines airfares at a rate of 1,000 points= S$10. Remember, these are awarded on top of the regular earn rate of 1.8 HighFlyer points per S$1 spent.

Since the AMEX SIA Business Card is one of the only cards to still earn points on GrabPay top-ups, I’ve done a test to see whether it triggers the 500 bonus HighFlyer points. I will update this article if/when they post.

are you keeping the card for year 2? my year 2 is coming soon and still deciding…

yar

did the grab topup work?

Mike

Grab didn’t post for mine either even after 3 weeks. Contactless payment posted 500 bonus points the next day though. So I think Grab top up doesn’t qualify.

Mike

Lazada still hasn’t posted after 2 days, even though another new contactless posted after a day. So best bet seems to be contactless.
