AMEX Shop Small 2021: Get S$15 back per card at 3,000+ merchants across Singapore

Expired

Register for AMEX Shop Small and get S$3 back per S$10 spent (up to 5X) at 3,000+ merchants across Singapore till 5 Nov 2021.

American Express has brought back its annual Shop Small campaign for 2021, which runs from 5 October to 5 November 2021 at more than 3,000 businesses across Singapore.

Registered cardholders can save S$3 off every purchase of at least S$10, up to five times. You can register multiple AMEX cards to enjoy the offer multiple times; there’s no cap on the maximum number of registrations.

Even better, Shop Small is also open to DBS and UOB AMEX cardholders, who are normally excluded from AMEX Offers.

❓ What are AMEX Offers?

AMEX Offers are opportunities to earn bonus miles or Membership Rewards points, or discounts in the form of statement credits. These are available to Platinum, True Cashback, and KrisFlyer cardholders, and can be found in the “Offers” section of the AMEX app or web portal.

Registration is required, and some offers may be targeted.

Cardholders can now register their American Express cards for the Shop Small 2021 promotion, which runs till 5 November 2021.

Once registered, you’ll receive a S$3 credit every time you spend S$10 or more in a single transaction in-store at a participating merchant, up to a maximum of five times. This cap applies on a per card basis, so if you register two AMEX cards, you’ll get a total of up to S$30 back.

Unlike other AMEX Offers where there’s a cap on the total cards that can be registered, there’s no such restriction here. Go ahead and register all the cards you have- doing so doesn’t deprive anyone else a slot.

Credits should appear on your card statement within five business days of qualifying spend, but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date. In my personal experience, these post very quickly.

Which merchants are participating?

AMEX Shop Small

The full list of participating merchants can be found here.

What I’ve always found funny is despite the name, Shop Small isn’t all about mom-and-pop establishments. Read through the list of participating merchants, and you’ll spot heavy-hitters such as:

  • Beauty in the Pot
  • Burger King
  • Best Denki
  • Challenger
  • Harvey Norman
  • Popular Bookstore
  • Tim Ho Wan
  • Many major fashion chains at IMM (e.g. Adidas, Nike, Puma, Skechers, Under Armour)
⚠️ Not all locations islandwide may be participating; double check against the official list.

Nothing says support small businesses like having a Whopper at Burger King, but hey, I’m not complaining.

This offer is only valid for in-store transactions; online and in-app purchases are explicitly excluded.

Win an Iphone 12 Pro 128GB

As part of the Shop Small campaign, American Express is giving away 2x iPhone 12 Pro 128GB  phones via an Instagram contest.

  1. Spot the decal at participating Shop Small businesses
  2. Get creative and pose for a picture with the decal
  3. Share it on Instagram with the location tag of the Shop Small business, and hashtags #ShopSmallSG and #KisSME924)
  4. Top 2 most creative posts will win

Conclusion

Save at Tiong Bahru Bakery and thousands of other local merchants

The sheer variety of participating merchants make this pretty much a free S$15 per card- just don’t forget to register before spending in-store

This offer stacks with whatever other AMEX promotions are currently ongoing; for example, both Fyr and Napoleon Food & Wine Bar are Shop Small merchants, as well as AMEX Love Dining partners. You can enjoy both discounts according to their individual T&Cs.

Well… to be fair the burgers at BK are getting smaller yoy

Kevin

any idea if this is also applicable when you use Apple Pay to make payment ?

Enil Esav

Strange that some shops with branches e.g. Uniqlo are recognised as a small shop in some locations (Plaza Singapura) but not others (Ion Orchard, Nex). Not all Burger King outlets appear on the map as well.

Curious Al

It’s mall-based and ‘street-based’, so many shops in Plaza Singapura will be offering this whereas none of the Nex shops will be included. The list is at https://www.americanexpress.com/content/dam/amex/sg/benefits/shop-small/shopper/2021/Shop_Small_2021_Participating_Malls_Streets.pdf
