DBS Altitude Cards cut sign-up bonus to 20,000 bonus miles

Apply for a new DBS Altitude Card by 28 February 2027 and get 20,000 bonus miles or a Samsonite luggage, with a minimum spend of S$800 in 60 days.

DBS has launched a new sign-up bonus for the DBS Altitude Card, which offers new cardholders 20,000 miles for applications submitted by 28 February 2027, with the option of earning an additional 10,000 miles by paying the first year’s S$196.20 annual fee.

As before, cardholders will need to spend at least S$800 within 60 days of approval and have a valid PayLah! account.

Unfortunately, this bonus is 8,000 miles fewer than the previous offer, though the alternative gift of a Samsonite MINTER luggage is still available. There’s also the option of applying via SingSaver instead for 22,000 Max Miles or S$320 cash, with a slightly lower minimum spend requirement.

DBS Altitude Card launches 20,000 miles welcome offer

The following welcome offers are valid for new-to-DBS cardholders, defined as those who:

  • do not currently hold any principal DBS/POSB credit cards, and
  • have not cancelled any principal DBS/POSB credit cards in the past 12 months

Customers must apply for a DBS Altitude AMEX or Visa from 1 November 2026 to 28 February 2027, and receive approval by 14 March 2027.

They must also spend at least S$800 within 60 days of approval, and have a valid DBS PayLah! account by the end of the qualifying spend period. You probably have one already, but if you don’t, it takes less than five minutes to set up (you don’t need a DBS/POSB deposit account to use PayLah!).

There’s nothing stopping you from signing up for both the AMEX and Visa cards. However, you will only enjoy the new customer bonus on the first card that’s approved.

1,040 – 1,760 miles
Total Miles 31,040 – 31,760 miles 21,040 – 21,760 miles

Cardholders who opt for the bonus miles offer will receive:

  • 20,000 bonus miles
  • 1,040 to 1,760 base miles, depending on how the S$800 spend is split between SGD/FCY

On top of this, there is the option of paying the first year’s S$196.20 annual fee for an extra 10,000 miles. This needs to be indicated at the time of application via a promo code:

  • ALTM30: If you wish to pay the first year’s annual fee
  • ALTMW20: If you wish to have a first year fee waiver

Should you pay the fee? It depends on how much you value a mile. S$196.20 for 10,000 miles is 1.96 cents per mile, and arguably on the high side, given the cheaper options available through bill payment platforms like CardUp or Citi PayAll.

Samsonite luggage

Cardholders who opt for the luggage offer will receive:

  • a Samsonite MINTER 80/30 Trunk Luggage (worth S$680, though the resale price on Carousell might be a better proxy than retail value)
  • 1,040 to 1,760 base miles, depending on how the S$800 spend is split between SGD/FCY

The luggage comes in Cherry Blossom, Glossy Sage Green and Black, though you can’t reserve a colour, and it’s first-come-first-served at the redemption centre. Unlike the previous welcome offer, the Samsonite luggage now has a warranty of 10 years, instead of just three. Do note that DBS reserves the right to substitute the luggage with 20,000 miles if stocks run out.

The annual fee will be waived by default, and you will not have the option to pay it to earn the 10,000 bonus miles.

If this is your preferred gift, use the code MINTER when applying.

What counts as qualifying spend?

Qualifying spend includes both local and foreign retail sales and posted recurring bill payments, excluding the transactions mentioned in point 7 of the T&Cs such as:

  • Charitable donations
  • Education expenses
  • FavePay
  • Government services
  • Hospitals
  • Kopitiam
  • Insurance premiums
  • Prepaid account top-ups (e.g. GrabPay, YouTrip)
  • ShopeePay
  • Utility bills

CardUp transactions do not count towards qualifying spend for welcome offers, even though CardUp otherwise earns regular DBS Points.

Supplementary and principal cardholder spending will be pooled when calculating whether the minimum qualifying spend has been met.

When will the welcome gifts be credited?

Cardmembers can expect DBS Points to be credited and annual fees to be posted (if applicable) according to the following schedule.

Card Approval Date Expected DBS Points Crediting & Annual Fee Posting
1-30 Nov 2026 Feb to Mar 2027
1-31 Dec 2026 Mar to Apr 2027
1-31 Jan 2027 Apr to May 2027
1-28 Feb 2027 May to Jun 2027
Note: The T&Cs don’t provide a fulfilment timeline for cards approved from 1-14 March 2027, but we can assume it will be Jun to Jul 2027.

Cardmembers who have chosen the luggage gift will receive a reward notification email, according to the following schedule.

Card Approval Date Expected Reward Notification
1-30 Nov 2026 Mar to Apr 2027
1-31 Dec 2026 Apr to May 2027
1-31 Jan 2027 May to Jun 2027
1-28 Feb 2027 Jun to Jul 2027
1-14 Mar 2027 Jul to Aug 2027

The original email must be presented at the designated redemption centre to claim the luggage (screenshots and forwarded copies are explicitly rejected).

SingSaver alternative

Apply (AMEX)
Apply (Visa)

If neither the luggage nor the miles appeal to you, SingSaver is offering its own slate of welcome gifts, available with a minimum spend of S$500 within the first 30 days of approval.

  • S$320 cash
  • S$350 Shopee voucher
  • 22,000 Max Miles
  • Apple Homeview (worth S$399)
  • Dyson Cool AM07 Tower Fan (worth S$499)

If you prefer these gifts, use the application links above and enter the code SINGSAVER. You’ll be able to select the exact gift during the application process.

What can you do with DBS Points?

DBS Points earned on the DBS Altitude Card never expire, and can be converted to any of the following frequent flyer programmes with a S$27.25 admin fee. Transfers to Qantas were dropped in September 2026, without notice.

Frequent Flyer Programme Conversion Ratio
(DBS Points : Miles)
5,000 : 10,000
5,000 : 10,000
500 : 1,500

DBS also offers automatic conversions to KrisFlyer for a 12-month period with a S$43.60 annual fee.

In my opinion, it’s only worth transferring points to KrisFlyer or Asia Miles. AirAsia Rewards is more of a rebates programme than a traditional frequent flyer scheme.

Cardholder Terms and Conditions

The DBS Altitude Card has an income requirement of S$30,000 and an annual fee of S$196.20, which can be waived in the first year (or paid to earn an extra 10,000 miles).

Cardholders earn:

  • 1.3 mpd on SGD spend
  • 2.2 mpd on foreign currency spend

Unfortunately, the 3 mpd for online flights and hotel bookings is no more, having been axed from 1 September 2023. Moreover, the 6 mpd with Expedia and 10 mpd with Kaligo lapsed in 2024 and were not extended.

The DBS Altitude Visa also enjoys a Priority Pass membership with two complimentary lounge visits per membership year.

Conclusion

Given its unexciting earn rates, the sign-up bonus is really the main reason to apply for a DBS Altitude Card. Unfortunately, it’s now been cut to 20,000 miles, 8,000 fewer than before, and will remain like this for the next four months at least.

It might be a better idea to apply through SingSaver instead, for S$320 cash or 22,000 Max Miles, available with a lower minimum spend of S$500. Alternatively, you can wait and see if DBS launches something better.
