Citibank has extended its sign-up bonus of 100,000 ThankYou points (equal to 40,000 miles) upon approval and a minimum spend of S$800.
This is valid for all applications up till 31 July 2022, and the S$535 annual fee must be paid.
Citi Prestige 40,000 miles sign-up offer
Apply here |
From 14 April to 31 July 2022, new Citi Prestige cardholders will receive 100,000 ThankYou points (equivalent to 40,000 miles) when they:
- Apply online for the Citi Prestige Card by 31 July 2022
- Get approved within 30 days from approval
- Pay the S$535 annual fee
- Spend at least S$800 on eligible transactions within the first 2 months of approval
๐ “First 2 months” |
The qualifying period for meeting the minimum spend actually runs from the approval date and two full calendar months following that. For example, those approved on 14 April 2022 will have until 30 June 2022 to meet the minimum spend. In other words, you should apply as early in the month as possible. |
These points are on top of the regular base earn rate of the card. For example, if you spend the S$800 entirely on local transactions, you’ll receive 102,600 ThankYou points:
- 2,600 ThankYou points for spending S$800 (@ 3.25 points/S$1)
- 100,000 ThankYou points for meeting the minimum spend
What’s a bit unusual about this promotion is that the Citi Prestige normally awards 62,500 ThankYou points (25,000 miles) to first-time and renewing customers, just for paying the S$535 annual fee.
However, the T&Cs this time round seem to imply that it’s an all or nothing deal. In other words, you must pay the S$535 annual fee and spend at least S$800 within two months of approval to get 100,000 ThankYou points; if you just pay the annual fee but don’t meet the S$800 spend, you’ll get nothing.
That could simply be poor wording on the part of the T&Cs, but until I see anything contrary, I’m going to assume that’s what they intended.
The offer is only open to individuals who have not cancelled a Citi Prestige in the 12 month period prior to application. If you currently hold other Citibank cards, you’re still eligible.
The T&Cs of this offer can be found here.
What counts as qualifying spending?
Successful applicants must spend S$800 within the first 2 months of approval (refer to the previous section for the exact timeframe). This consists of all retail transactions, excluding the following:
โ Qualifying Spend Exclusions |
i. annual fees, interest charges, late payment charges, GST, cash advances, instalment/easy/ extended/equal payment plans, preferred payment plans, balance transfers, cash advances, quasi-cash transactions, all fees charged by Citibank or third party, miscellaneous charges imposed by Citibank (unless otherwise stated in writing by Citibank); ii. funds transfers using the card as source of funds; iii. bill payments (including via Citibank Online or via any other channel or agent); iv. payments to educational institutions; v. payments to government institutions and services (including but not limited to court cases, fines, bail and bonds, tax payment, postal services, parking lots and garages, intra-government purchases); vi. payments to insurance companies (sales, underwriting, and premiums); vii. payments to financial institutions (including banks and brokerages); viii. payments to non-profit organizations; ix. betting or gambling (including lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, off-track betting, and wagers at race tracks) through any channel; x. any top-ups or payment of funds to payment service providers, prepaid cards and any prepaid accounts; xi. transit-related transactions; xii. transactions performed at establishments/businesses/merchants that fall within an excluded Merchant Category or a merchant that has been excluded by the bank, as sent out in www.citibank.com.sg/rwdexcl (this list of excluded Merchant Categories or merchants may be updated from time to time at our discretion and Eligible Cardmembers shall refer to this list for any updates) |
Notice that point xii. refers customers to a separate list of exclusions, which includes other items like GrabPay top-ups and utilities bills.
For avoidance of doubt, Citi PayAll transactions will count towards the minimum spend. There’s a fantastic opportunity right now to earn 2.5 mpd on PayAll transactions till 31 July 2022, with a minimum spend of S$5,000.
Great deal: Citi PayAll offering 2.5 mpd on all payments (including tax); buy miles at 0.8 cents
When will the miles be credited?
The 100,000 ThankYou points will be credited within three calendar months from the end of the minimum spend period.
What can you do with ThankYou points?
Citi ThankYou points are extremely flexible, with a total of 11 different transfer partners to choose from.
Points can be transferred to miles at a rate of 25,000 Thank You points= 10,000 miles. There are some great sweet spots with programmes like Etihad Guest, British Airways Executive Club, and Turkish Miles&Smiles. Even the newly-revitalised Qatar Privilege Club might be a good bet (but heads up: they’ve sneakily reintroduced award segment fees!)

For a full list of transfer partners, refer to this article |
Transfers cost a flat S$26.75. Do remember that Citibank does not pool points across cards, so if you have both a Citi Prestige and Citi Rewards, you’ll need to pay two conversion fees.
Alternative offer: S$350 cash or gadgets
SingSaver Offer |
An alternative Citi Prestige offer exists through SingSaver. Applicants who sign up by 17 July 2022 and get approved by 17 August 2022 can pick from one of the following gifts:
- Dyson Supersonic (worth S$649)
- Dyson TP00 air purifier (worth S$549)
- Samsonite Straren Spinner 67/24 + S$150 Klook vouchers (worth S$750)
- S$350 cash
A minimum spend of S$500 must be made within 30 days of approval.
Do note that this offer is slightly stricter. Unlike the 100,000 ThankYou points offer, applicants must not hold any Citi cards currently, or in the past 12 months.
For avoidance of doubt, you cannot stack the two offers. You either apply via SingSaver, or via the Citi website.
Is this offer worth it?
If you’ve been eyeing a Citi Prestige, then this is a rare opportunity to rack up 37,500 bonus ThankYou points (15,000 miles) for a relatively low S$800 minimum spend. Keep in mind that the “true” bonus here is 37,500 points and not 100,000 points, since cardholders normally receive 62,500 points for paying the annual fee anyway.
Now that the borders have reopened, the value of the Citi Prestige goes up considerably. You can use its limo benefit (albeit with a hefty minimum spend) to get to the airport, its unlimited Priority Pass to access the lounge (+1 guest), and its 4th night free benefit to save on hotels when you travel.
Check out how the Citi Prestige compares to other cards in the $120K segment in this year’s $120K card showdown.
Conclusion
Citi Prestige cardholders can get 40,000 miles when they spend S$800 within 2 months of approval and pay the S$535 annual fee. This may be a good opportunity for would-be cardholders to jump onboard, provided they’re able to meet that minimum spend (buying grocery vouchers is an easy way of doing so, worse come to worse).
This offer is valid till 31 July 2022, so remember to apply before then.
existing citibank card holder also applicable?
Did not in t&c. or did I missed it out?
Citibank Prestige card no longer has free Boingo inflight Wi-Fi.

You didnโt read the article?

Any idea if amaze transactions are excluded from the spending requirement?

Seems like this is extended till July
MCC for 8062 counted in qualifying spend?
DBS Vantage gets 60k pointsโฆin the same 120k bracket
min spend requirements quite different though. one is $800, the other $8000!
Much better sign-on benefits and card benefits (from citi) than the crap vantage card from dbs. Dbs being the last entrant and yet bringing nothing better to the table.
Agree. And they also rejected all my recent annual waiver requests for Altitude and WWMC. Suffice to say I no longer have any DBS cards
For some reason I can’t for the life of me get approved for a Citibank credit card! I’ve tried multiple times and keep getting rejected. Strange when I also have a 1712 and SCB VI, no clue why this keeps happening. Do you happen to know anyone at Citi Aaron?
Perhaps you have already met the MAS cap on total unsecured credit facilities granted of 12x monthly income?
Am up for renewal this month, might as well ask for this as my renewal gift. worst they can say is no, right…
40k miles instead of the usual 25k for renewal? Yeah, dream on lol
