Back in Feburary, Singapore Airlinesย announced plans for a ยฃ3.5 million refresh of its SilverKris Lounge at London Heathrow Airport, the first major makeover since 2015.ย
The renovated lounge was scheduled to reopen in summer 2024, and indeed it’s kept to that timeline, with the doors now open to guests departing on all four daily flights between the UK’s capital and Singapore.ย
“โSingapore Airlinesโ all-new SilverKris Lounge at London Heathrow offers customers a refreshed, spacious, and welcoming environment.
From new furnishings to extra seating options, there are thoughtful touches throughout. Our lounge has been optimised to create a well-balanced space, whether you are working, relaxing, or spending time with your family, loved ones or colleagues ahead of flying.
This is part of our continued commitment to offering an unrivalled travel experience, and we look forward to welcoming customers through our doors.”

Singapore Airlines’ new London Heathrow SilverKris Lounge
The new SilverKris Lounge at London Heathrow is located in Terminal 2B, and open from 5.30 a.m to 10 p.m daily.ย This allows it to serve passengers on all four daily flights to Singapore, namely:
- SQ305 (departs 9.25 a.m)
- SQ317 (departs 11.25 a.m)
- SQ319 (departs 8.35 p.m)
- SQ321 (departs 10.05 p.m)
Following the renovation, the lounge now covers a total footprint of 10,689 square feet. Seating capacity has increased by 16% from 208 to 242 guests, with more diverse options including private productivity pods, stylish wingback chairs and spacious long table seats. The lounge furniture and dรฉcor is designed to be reflective of the flagship SilverKris Lounge at Changi Terminal 3, as the photos below show.
Throughout the lounge will be numerous charging points for electronic devices, 75-inch widescreen TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, and an iconic Batik feature wall that’s good for the ‘gram.
UK blog Head for Points attended a media preview and has shared more photos of the revamped interiors, which you can view here.
As before, there will be a separate First and Business Class section.
First Class section
In the First Class section, the 50 guests can choose from a la carte and made-to-order dishes from the revamped menu, alongside a buffet selection. Staples include Singapore Laksa and Hainanese Chicken Rice, as well as Western options like a full English breakfast and spinach cannelloni.ย
Laurent Perrier champagne will be served along with a selection of wines and soft drinks.ย
A total of two private shower suites are available for guests to use.ย
Business Class section
In the Business Class section, the 192 guests can look forward to a revamped cocktail bar as the centrepiece, with bar seating for up to 10 customers.ย
The buffet will feature a rotating selection of hot and cold Western and Asian dishes for three meals daily.ย Various wines and Rodier champagne will be served, and the bartender can whip up various cocktails including, of course, a Singapore Sling.ย
A total of four private shower suites are available for guests to use, each with attached toilet.ย
Who gets access to the SilverKris Lounge?
The following passengers will be able to visit the SilverKris Lounge at London Heathrow.
Business Class section
- Business Class passengers on Singapore Airlines or Star Alliance flights
- Premium Economy or Economy Class passengers on Singapore Airlines or Star Alliance flights with PPS Club, KrisFlyer Elite Gold or Star Gold status
- Premium Economy or Economy Class passengers on Singapore Airlines flights with Virgin Australia Velocity Platinum or Gold status
First Class section
- Suites & First Classย passengers on Singapore Airlines or Star Alliance flights
- Business, Premium Economy or Economy Class passengers on Singapore Airlines with Solitaire PPS Club status
As a reminder, a different set of rules applies when departing from Singapore Changi Airport, where KrisFlyer Elite Gold and Velocity Platinum/Gold members travelling in Premium Economy or Economy Class will only get access to the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge.
Guest policy
Solitaire PPS Club, PPS Club, KrisFlyer Elite Gold, Star Gold and Velocity Platinum/Gold members may bring one guest into the lounge, provided he/she is departing on a same flight.ย
Alternative Star Alliance lounges
If, for whatever reason, the SilverKris Lounge is not to your liking, then eligible passengers can also visit the United Club Lounge at Terminal 2B. This lounge is located opposite Gate B46, and just a short walk from the SilverKris Lounge. Opening hours are 5 a.m to 10 p.m daily.ย
United Clubs in the USA aren’t much to get excited aboutย (think trail mix and lukewarm cold cuts), but thankfully the one in London Heathrow is an exception.
This lounge serves up a very good buffet spread throughout the day, with an English breakfast and afternoon tea lending some local flavour. The drinks list features champagne, and an extensive range of made-to-order cocktails and wines (is this even United?).
And if it’s showers you’re after, the shower suites are suitably modern, with bath amenities from Gilchrist & Soames’ Zero% collection.ย
Singapore Airlines passengers with lounge privileges are of course at liberty to visit the other Star Alliance lounges at Heathrow Terminal 2, but my opinion is that the United Club is much better.
Lounge | Location |
Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge | T2B, between gates B44 and B46 |
Lufthansa Senator Lounge | T2A, level 5 departure area |
Lufthansa Business Lounge | T2A, level 5 departure area |
If you must lounge hop, the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge is probably the best of the rest, given its closer proximity to the SilverKris Lounge and the fact it offers champagne and showers.ย Don’t bother visiting the Lufthansa lounges, as these require a much longer walk, their F&B offerings are more in line with a domestic lounge, and they lack showers.ย
Conclusion
Singapore Airlines has reopened its SilverKris Lounge at London Heathrow Airport following a six-month-long renovation.ย
This continues the trend of upgrading the airlines’ overseas SilverKris Lounges. We’ve already seen the renovated lounge in Hong Kong reopen (though reports say it’s very similar to the previous facility), as well as Perth, so hopefully there’ll be more announcements of a similar nature soon.
If you’re visiting the SilverKris Lounge in London Heathrow soon, do share your pics (and thoughts)!
The first class showers look terrible. How is it that the business class showers look so much better?
Have you considered that SQ may be trying to have some consistency in the tiling design between the Changi First Class/Business Class lounge showers and the newly refurbished LHR one? Go look at the Changi first class lounge showers, and also the business class showers. The tiling design is materially similar with the same โterribleโ (or in the other commenterโs words, โhideousโ) look.
And if you were thinking of a complete change in the layout of the shower cubicles, go read up on the typical reps and warranties and lessorโs obligations in UK commercial leases.
The first class section don’t seem to be that much different from November last year which was when I visited it. It certainly looked very much like the same hideous bathroom.
