GHA DISCOVERY Titanium adds free breakfast at Pan Pacific and PARKROYAL hotels

Back in April 2024, GHA DISCOVERY announced a big enhancement for its top-tier Titanium members: complimentary breakfast. 

This perk was initially limited to a handful of smaller brands such as Marco Polo and Niccolo Hotels, but has been expanded progressively over the months with ASMALLWORLD, Capella Hotels and Resorts and Divani Collection, to name a few. 

Still, all these are relative minnows compared to the big fish that’s just been landed. From next month, GHA DISCOVERY Titanium members can look forward to free breakfast at all Pan Pacific Hotels Group properties worldwide. 

GHA DISCOVERY Titanium gets breakfast at Pan Pacific and PARKROYAL

From 1 December 2024, GHA DISCOVERY Titanium members will enjoy complimentary breakfast at all Pan Pacific Hotels Group properties worldwide, which includes Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Hotels & Resorts and PARKROYAL Hotels & Resorts.

The breakfast benefit is valid for the Titanium member, and one additional guest staying in the same room.

Titanium members who already booked a room rate that includes breakfast might want to check whether they can cancel for free and rebook a cheaper rate instead (though it’s possible that rates have increased such that a no-breakfast rate now is more pricey than a breakfast-included rate then!).

No disrespect to the rest of the DISCOVERY portfolio, but all the GHA brands with free breakfast so far have been relative microchains with a limited regional focus (case in point: Paramount Hotels has only two properties, both in Dubai).

In contrast, the Pan Pacific Hotels Group has more than 50 hotels, resorts and serviced suites across more than 30 cities worldwide. It’s still predominantly Asia Pacific focused, but that’s a feature, not a bug, for someone based in Singapore. 

I’ve often said that the tipping point for me would be when a major GHA brand like Pan Pacific or Kempinski added free breakfast, and indeed, I can easily see this influencing some of my upcoming hotel stays.

The major brands still missing the breakfast benefit include Anantara, Avani, Kempinski and NH Hotels.

How does the breakfast benefit work?

The GHA DISCOVERY Titanium breakfast benefit applies to the Titanium member and one additional guest staying in the same room (it was previously for all guests staying in the same room, but the wording has since been tweaked). 

The benefit does not apply to additional rooms booked by the Titanium member during the same stay (i.e. you enjoy it on a maximum of one room).

With chains like Hilton or Marriott, elites are technically entitled to a continental breakfast only. Some hotels go above and beyond to provide a full hot breakfast spread, but many more do just the bare minimum. I’ve been to hotel breakfasts where I’ve been told “take whatever you want except the hot food”, and others where the elite “breakfast” is a to-go bag at the front desk- forget about entering the restaurant even!

Thankfully, GHA DISCOVERY is keeping their benefit much more straightforward. As stated in the T&Cs:

The Benefit applies to breakfast served at the hotel and will be for the same breakfast type that the hotel offers to guests who have booked a room and breakfast package

In other words, you get the same breakfast as anyone who books a breakfast-inclusive rate. If they get a full hot buffet, so do you. If they get bread and water, so do you.

Don’t forget that Mastercard World Elite cardholders can get instant GHA DISCOVERY Titanium status, simply by signing up via the Mastercard website. Platinum status is available to Mastercard World cardholders, and since every entry-level credit card now holds the World badge, there’s no reason to be anything lower than this.

Conclusion

GHA DISCOVERY will add complimentary breakfast as a perk for Titanium members staying at Pan Pacific Hotels Group properties worldwide, effective 1 December 2024. 

This is a fantastic development as the breakfast benefit was previously limited to brands with tiny footprints or limited regional focus. Hopefully we’ll see Kempinski and NH Hotels brought onboard soon!
