Heymax now offering Max Miles for restaurant reservations

Heymax now offers 75 Max Miles per completed reservation, another opportunity to pick up valuable Max Miles.

Heymax has launched a new feature that allows users to earn Max Miles on dining reservations. The current reward is 75 Max Miles per completed reservation, though I suspect we might see that figure boosted from time to time, depending on promotions.

While it’s true that other dining reservations platforms like Quandoo can offer up to 150 KrisFlyer miles per booking, Max Miles are a much more versatile currency. The ability to tap lower cost awards through other frequent flyer programmes might very well make up for the difference in earn rates.

Earn 75 Max Miles per completed reservation

To make a dining reservation via Heymax, log in to your account and click the Dine out button at the top of the homepage.

You’ll then be brought to a simple interface that lets you select a restaurant, or search for one. More than 1,000 restaurants are currently available for booking, including major chains like Aburi-EN, Marmalade Pantry, and TungLok.

Once you find a restaurant you like, click on it, then the Make a reservation on Chope button. You’ll be redirected to the Chope website, where you can complete your booking.

It’s not clear whether reservations made via Heymax are also eligible to double dip on Chope$, but I suspect not. I’ll update this article when I have a more definite answer.

75 Max Miles will be credited five days after your reservation is completed. At the risk of stating the obvious, cancelled or no-show reservations will not be rewarded.

What are the alternatives?

Quandoo offers 100 KrisFlyer miles per reservation, periodically upsized to 150 KrisFlyer miles

Heymax isn’t the only platform that lets you earn miles when making restaurant reservations, of course.

Now, 100-150 miles obviously sounds better than 75 miles, but you need to consider the currency you’re earning. Max Miles can be transferred to 27 airline and hotel loyalty programmes at a 1:1 ratio, or used to pay for commercial air tickets at 1.8 cents each.

Therefore, 1 Max Miles is worth more than 1 KrisFlyer mile, though exactly how much more boils down to how you use them.

What’s the best use of Max Miles?

With so many transfer partners, Max Miles open up a world of possibilities, including numerous “exotic” loyalty programmes which aren’t available through credit cards in Singapore.

I’ve written about some excellent sweet spots you can tap through American AAdvantage, Air Canada Aeroplan, Alaska Mileage Plan, JAL MileageBank and more, so refer to the post below for all the details.

Conclusion

Heymax users can now earn Max Miles on dining reservations, with 75 Max Miles offered per completed booking. It’s a modest reward for sure, but the flexibility of Max Miles means they’re worth accumulating wherever you can.

Hopefully we’ll see some promotions in the months to come with upsized miles for certain areas, cuisines or restaurant chains.

We are working hard to make dining a lot more rewarding towards your next vacation this year! Thanks for noticing and looking forward to many more buffs to come!

I appreciate the focus on dining, but the earn rate needs to be an order of magnitude higher to meaningfully contribute towards a next vacation. At 75 miles per meal, even if I did this for 3 meals a day x 365 days a year, I would end the year with just over 82,000 miles. Whatever it is that you guys are working on, I sincerely hope that it’s going to be a larger mile earning opportunity.
