Earn 50% more KrisFlyer miles on Singapore Airlines and Scoot flights

Expired

Enjoy a 50% bonus on mileage accrual with Scoot and Singapore Airlines when you book by 31 March 2025 and travel from 1 April to 31 October 2025.

Singapore Airlines is celebrating its 10 millionth KrisFlyer member with a series of offers and promotions, including an upsized Spontaneous Escapes, discounts on all Economy Saver awards, and various transfer bonuses.

It’s also offering 50% more KrisFlyer miles on Singapore Airlines or Scoot flights booked from now till 31 March 2025, valid for all destinations and fare classes.

This is similar to the promotion we saw back in February 2024, when KrisFlyer celebrated 25 years, only that this time Scoot is included too.

While there is a limit of 5,000 bonus miles per segment, it’d be impossible to trigger the cap if you’re flying in Economy, or most Premium Economy fare buckets and routes.

50% bonus miles for Singapore Airlines and Scoot flights

Earn an extra 50% KrisFlyer miles on all commercial Singapore Airlines and Scoot fares

Here’s the key details of the 50% bonus KrisFlyer miles offer:

  • Tickets must be purchased from 24-31 March 2025
  • Dates of travel must fall between 1 April to 31 October 2025 (both dates inclusive)
  • All travel must be completed by 31 October 2025
  • Tickets must be purchased via singaporeair.com, SIA Mobile App, flyscoot.com or Scoot Mobile app
  • Travel must be on flights operated by Singapore Airlines or Scoot

The promotion is valid for all commercial fare classes, and there is a cap of 5,000 bonus miles per segment.

Do note that flights must be operated by Singapore Airlines or Scoot to be eligible for the bonus. Any codeshare flights will be ineligible, notwithstanding the fact they were sold as part of an overall Singapore Airlines or Scoot itinerary.

No KrisFlyer miles are earned from redemption bookings, so this offer is strictly for commercial flights only. If you happen to pay for your commercial flight with a mix of cash + miles, the miles earned will be proportional and only in respect of the amount paid for using cash.

Earning miles with Singapore Airlines

Earn a 50% bonus on all commercial fare classes

Bonus miles are awarded based on the the total number of KrisFlyer miles earned from the combination of distance flown and cabin bonus.

As a reminder, here’s the accrual rates from Singapore Airlines’ various fare classes.

Cabin Fare Class Accrual Rate
Suites / First A, F 200%
Business
Flexi: Z, C, J 150%
Standard: U 125%
Lite: D 125%
Premium Economy
Flexi: S, T 125%
Standard: L, P 100%
Lite: R 100%
Economy Flexi: B, E, Y 100%
Standard: M, H, W 75%
Value & Lite: Q, N, V, K, G 50%
KrisFlyer Elite Silver, Elite Gold and Solitaire PPS, PPS Club members earn a 25% elite bonus, on top of the amounts shown above. This bonus does not apply to Economy Value & Economy Lite fares.

As an illustration, consider the example of a KrisFlyer Elite Gold member who flies one-way from SIN-SFO in Economy Standard (H), with 8,440 miles the actual distance flown:

  • ‘H’ Fare class: 6,330 miles (75% x 8,440)
  • Elite bonus: 2,110 miles (25% x 8,440)
  • 50% promotional bonus: 3,165 miles (50% x 6,330)

Note how the 50% promotional bonus is applied to the 75% accrual that the ‘H’ fare class normally earns, not the actual distance flown. The promotional bonus does not apply to the 25% Elite bonus.

Now, consider a KrisFlyer Elite Gold member who flies one-way from SIN-SFO in Business Flexi (Z):

  • ‘Z’ Fare class: 12,660 miles (150% x 8,440)
  • Elite bonus: 2,110 miles (25% x 8,440)
  • 50% promotional bonus: 5,000 miles (50% x 12,660, capped at 5,000)

In this case the 5,000 miles cap is triggered.

For what it’s worth, it’s impossible to trigger the cap with any Economy fare, and with Premium Economy Standard and Lite fares. Moreover, even if you’re in First or Business Class, you’d have to be flying on Singapore Airlines’ long-haul routes to the USA for the cap to come into play.

Earning miles with Scoot

Earn 1-1.25 KrisFlyer mile per S$1 spent with Scoot

Scoot customers can earn KrisFlyer miles on:

  • Base fare (excluding fees and taxes)
  • Add-ons like meals, seat selection, baggage (except e-Visa, travel insurance/Scoot Protect)

The earn rate for regular customers is 1 KrisFlyer mile = S$1, but Singapore Airlines elite members enjoy a 25% accrual bonus.

Tier Earn Rate
(Per S$1)
Solitaire PPS Club 1.25 KrisFlyer miles
PPS Club 1.25 KrisFlyer miles
KrisFlyer Elite Gold 1.25 KrisFlyer miles
KrisFlyer Elite Silver 1.25 KrisFlyer miles
KrisFlyer 1 KrisFlyer mile

KrisFlyer miles are not awarded on any taxes, infant tickets, credit card processing fees (yes, they’re back!) and amounts offset using Scoot vouchers or KrisFlyer miles.

As an illustration, consider the example of a KrisFlyer Elite Gold member who buys a S$300 ticket from SIN-BKK:

  • Base miles: 300 miles (S$300 @ 1 mpd)
  • Elite bonus: 75 miles (S$300 @ 0.25 mpd)
  • 50% promotional bonus: 150 miles (50% x 300)

Note how the promotional bonus is applied to the 1 mpd that Scoot passengers usually earn. There is no further bonus on the elite bonus.

I can’t think of a situation where anyone would pay >S$5,000 for a Scoot ticket, so I’m quite confident it’s impossible to trigger the cap.

âť“ What about mixed itineraries?

If you’re travelling on a mixed Singapore Airlines and Scoot itinerary, the Singapore Airlines sector will earn miles per the section above, and the Scoot sector will earn miles based on the fare class and actual mileage flown.

  • 25%- C, D, I, J, U, Z
  • 20%- A, F, P, R, S, Y
  • 15%- B, H, M, W
  • 10%- N, O, X

When will bonus miles post?

Bonus miles earned under this promotion may take up to four weeks to be credited into your KrisFlyer account, after the relevant travel is completed.

Conclusion

Singapore Airlines and Scoot customers can enjoy an extra 50% mileage accrual for tickets booked by 31 March 2025, and flown from 1 April to 31 October 2025.

The bonus is capped at 5,000 miles, but it’ll be quite difficult to hit this cap, unless you’re travelling in First and Business Class on the longest SIA routes. If anyone manages to hit the cap with Scoot, well, I’d like to see a screenshot!

  1. I was told by an online customer service guy that you can only book a flight without any partner airline to be eligible for the promotion.

  2. would like to share the following, in case anyone misunderstood ‘each flight segment’ like me.

i just bought round trip tickets (Singapore to New York, New York to Singapore), and thought that i would be earning 50% bonus miles on the 2 flight segments.

after an online chat and 2 phone calls to SQ contact centre, i learnt that 50% bonus miles will be earned on either Singapore to New York or New York to Singapore, not both.

    Background
i tried reaching SQ via chat and phone, as i was trying to check whether i can stack my Krisflyer Milestone Reward (25% bonus miles) on the Singapore to New York flight.

the customer service agent said i can earn either 50% bonus miles (per Krisflyer 10 million members campaign) or 25% bonus miles (per Krisflyer Milestone Reward), not both.

the customer service agent suggested that i apply 50% bonus miles to Singapore to New York (because more base miles), and 25% bonus miles on New York to Singapore.

i was puzzled by her suggestion, as i thought i would be earning 50% bonus miles for New York to Singapore.
she said no, i will only earn 50% bonus miles for Singapore to New York.

i agreed with her suggestion, and tried applying the 25% bonus miles (Krisflyer Milestone Reward) to New York to Singapore, but New York to Singapore did not appear on my list of upcoming flights.
i also asked the customer service agent how to instruct SQ’s system to apply 50% bonus miles on Singapore to New York flight.
as i was not able to proceed with the 25% bonus miles selection, i asked the customer service agent to assist me with the 2 steps.

a very long while later, the customer service agent came back and informed the successful application of 25% bonus miles (Krisflyer Milestone Reward) to New York to Singapore.
for Singapore to New York, the customer service agent was unable to instruct SQ’s system to apply 50% bonus miles.
i will have to monitor for the 50% bonus miles after my trip is completed, and submit a claim if the 50% bonus miles are not credited to my Krisflyer account.

the above seems to suggest that if you purchase round trip tickets, SQ’s system will automatically apply 50% bonus miles to the sector with less miles.

hope the above helps for fellow passengers hoping to earn 50% bonus miles!
