GHA DISCOVERY offering 2X D$ at Sunway Hotels & Resorts

Sunway Hotels & Resorts might not be a familiar name to international readers, but it’s one that most Singaporeans should know pretty well— at least those who visit Malaysia with any regularity.

This chain announced its plans to join GHA DISCOVERY back in September 2024, adding yet another brand to GHA’s eclectic portfolio. It looks like that’s finally happened, and to mark the occasion, DISCOVERY members can now earn 2X D$ on hotel bookings up till 30 April 2026. 

Look, I’m not going to stand here and pretend that Sunway Hotels are anything amazing, but if you’re planning to stay there anyway, you might as well maximise your rebate. Besides, it’s a relatively cheap way to rack up an additional brand towards requalification for GHA DISCOVERY Titanium (3x brands) or Platinum (2x brands).

GHA Discovery members will earn 2X D$ when they book stays at any property under the Sunway Group worldwide, which has properties across Cambodia (1), Malaysia (10), and Vietnam (1). 

Stays must be booked by 30 September 2025, and completed by 30 April 2026. Completion” refers to check-out; if your check-out date is after 30 April 2026, your stay will not qualify for the bonus D$. 

There is no minimum spend or minimum stay length required, and no cap on the maximum times this offer can be enjoyed.  All bookings must be made via the GHA DISCOVERY website or app, or the Sunway Hotels website. 

The 2X offer already includes the base 1X D$, so depending on their GHA DISCOVERY tier, members would earn anywhere from a 8-14% rebate.

As always, any D$ earned through promotions expires six months from the date of issuance, as opposed to the usual D$ expiry.

GHA DISCOVERY members can now register to earn up to a D$150 bonus for stays booked and completed between 1 January to 30 June 2025 (ongoing stays that end after 30 June 2025 will not be eligible).

• 1st stay: No bonus
• 2nd stay: D$25 bonus
• 3rd stay: D$50 bonus
• 4th stay: D$75 bonus

Each stay must be a minimum of two nights to qualify for this offer. Bookings must be made via the GHA DISCOVERY app/website or the hotel’s official website. 

Registration had to be completed by 31 March 2025, so hopefully you’ve already done so.

How do D$ work?

D$1= US$1 at GHA properties worldwide, and can be earned or redeemed on the following expenses:

Only stays booked through the GHA website or official hotel websites/channels will be eligible to earn D$. 

A minimum of D$10 must be spent in a single transaction, and at the moment, D$ can only be used to pay online at the following hotels:

For all other brands, D$ can be used during a stay at the front desk of a hotel. You cannot spend them on F&B or spa treatments when not an in-house guest

It is possible to use D$ on prepaid stays however, to the extent the hotel doesn’t actually charge your card at the time of booking (you’d be surprised, many “prepaid stays” aren’t actually charged until check-in). My advice would be to contact the hotel beforehand, let them know you want to book a prepaid rate with D$, and ask them how to proceed.

Conclusion

Sunway Hotels & Resorts is now offering 2X D$ for all bookings made by 30 September 2025 and stayed by 30 April 2026. Depending on your GHA tier, you can earn up to a 14% rebate on your stay, plus an extra D$5 for booking via the DISCOVERY app or D$150 for completing four stays in total.

While these aren’t what I’d call “aspirational” properties, it can still be a very cheap way of racking up an additional brand towards elite status qualification or requalification.
