HSBC has launched a new travel programme called Premier Destinations, which offers HSBC Premier Mastercard customers a complimentary second night at selected hotels.
The inaugural edition features four Mandarin Oriental properties in Desaru, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Taipei, with breakfast for two adults included.
Cardholders are limited to a maximum of one free night across all participating hotels, but this could still offer some substantial savings depending on which hotel you’re looking at.

The current slate of HSBC Premier Destination hotels is valid for bookings and stays during the following periods:
- Booking period: 1 September to 30 December 2026
- Stay period: 1 September to 31 December 2026
This promotion is only available to principal cardholders, and each cardholder can book a maximum of one reservation across all participating properties. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and blackout dates apply.
Four Mandarin Oriental properties are participating in this edition.

The second night is complimentary, with no room taxes or service charge payable, so you basically add the taxes and service charge (if any) to the first night rate to get the total cost of the stay.

If you’re looking for a staycation option, the cheapest breakfast-inclusive rate I can find at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore during the promotion period is S$735++ (S$881 nett) per night, so the HSBC Premier Destinations rate offers substantial savings.

The Mandarin Oriental Desaru Coast is an interesting option too, though also the most expensive. This isn’t a new-built property, but rather a reflag of what used to be the One&Only Desaru Coast and later The Sireya. The original resort was designed by the late Kerry Hill (also behind the Amanwella in Sri Lanka), and one of his last completed works before his passing in 2018.
However, before booking, you should know that Mandarin Oriental is planning extensive renovations through 2028, so visiting now might not give you the full experience.
How to book Premier Destinations
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to book these deals online. Instead, you’ll need to create a Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle Services account online, then pick up the phone to make the booking.
- Register for a Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle Services (MTLS) account using your name as per NRIC/Passport and an eligible HSBC Premier Mastercard Credit Card. The name used for MTLS registration will also be used for hotel booking
- Call the Mastercard Concierge Service Hotline at +65 3129 1241
- Provide your travel dates, guest name(s), preferred bed type and HSBC Premier Mastercard details
- Pay on-site at the hotel upon check-out, using your HSBC Premier Mastercard
The Mastercard Concierge can only facilitate bookings that fall within the promotion. If you wish to book additional nights or rooms, you will need to make a separate booking with the hotel at the hotel’s published rates.
Important things to know
Non-transferable
This promotion is for HSBC Premier Mastercard customers only, and the principal cardholder must be present for check-in and throughout the stay
Cancellation policy
Any cancellations received less than seven days prior to arrival will be subject to a 100% charge, based on the Pay 1 Night rate for two nights (i.e. 2 x Pay 1 Night rate), together with applicable taxes and/or service charges.
Ironically, this is double what the stay would have cost, had you actually stayed!
Payment
At the risk of stating the obvious, payment will need to be made with a HSBC Premier Mastercard.
This earns 1.68 mpd on SGD spend, and 2.76 mpd on FCY spend, with no minimum spend or caps. A 3.25% FCY transaction fee applies to all FCY spending.
It’s obviously not as good as the 4 mpd you could earn on hotel stays with the HSBC Revolution or Maybank XL Rewards, but I’d like to see those two cards give you a free night at a Mandarin Oriental!
No stacking
This deal cannot be stacked with other ongoing promotions, discounts, vouchers or member privileges unless otherwise stated.
I wonder whether this means that Fans of M.O. (Mandarin Oriental’s loyalty programme) won’t be able to enjoy their benefits on these bookings, which usually include a choice of two privileges such as a dining or spa credit, early check-in and late check-out.

The current sign-up bonus — which runs till 30 September 2026 — offers 58,200 bonus miles and a S$200 Apple voucher, though it’s capped at the first 800 eligible customers. There’s really no way of knowing whether that cap has already been hit (the campaign started on 1 August 2026).

Conclusion
The newly-launched HSBC Premier Destinations offers HSBC Premier Mastercard customers the second night free on a two-night booking at the Mandarin Oriental properties in Desaru, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Taipei. Bookings are now open, and are available for stays completed by 31 December 2026.
It’s slightly annoying that you will have to pick up the phone to make a booking, but given the potential savings, I’m sure a little inconvenience can be tolerated.
Do note that stays are non-refundable once you’re within a week of arrival, and cancelling or no-showing will result in a charge that is double what the stay would have cost, had you shown up.
