AMEX Platinum Charge adds S$150 annual fashion credit

Register your AMEX Platinum Charge and receive S$150 a year to spend at NET-A-PORTER or MR PORTER, no minimum spend necessary.

I am reliably informed (by my mother) that I rank among the most fashionable individuals to ever walk the earth, and my trendsetting style of Crocs plus a Giordano t-shirt with white stains that may or may not be toothpaste will one day grace runways from Milan to Marsiling.

Therefore, I was pleasantly surprised to see the latest benefit for AMEX Platinum Charge cardholders: a S$150 annual credit for NET-A-PORTER (for women) & MR PORTER (for men)

What are AMEX Offers?

AMEX Offers are opportunities to earn bonus miles, Membership Rewards points, or discounts in the form of statement credits. They can be found in the “Offers” section of the AMEX app or web portal.

Registration is required, and some offers may be targeted. These are not applicable to DBS, Citi or UOB AMEX cardholders.

Even if you’re not into fashion, don’t disregard this completely- MR PORTER offers things like watches, gadgets, luggage and tableware, so you’re bound to find something you like.

AMEX Fashion Credit

Registered AMEX Platinum Charge cardholders will receive an annual S$150 fashion credit valid at NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER. There is no minimum spend necessary to use this credit, and it is available for principal cardholders only.

The fashion credit will be offered till 31 December 2025, and is split into two bi-annual credits of S$75 each that must be used during the following periods:

  • 1 January to 30 June
  • 1 July to 31 December

Statement credits cannot be rolled over; you use it or lose it. Since it’s already April, you have just under two months to use the first S$75 credit (which expires 30 June 2023). Subsequently, you’ll have the full six months to use the second S$75 credit (which expires 31 December 2023). There is no need to re-register for the credit in subsequent years.

Purchases must be made:

Payments made at OUTNET or YOOX will not count toward this Platinum Card Benefit.

Statement credits will be automatically posted to your billing statement within 30 days of the date of transaction.

Other AMEX Platinum Charge statement credits

This S$150 annual fashion credit is on top of the previously-announced S$1,204 airline, entertainment, lifestyle, and dining credits.

💳 AMEX Platinum Charge Annual Statement Credits
Credit Amt. Min. Spend No. of Trxns.
Fashion (new) S$150 per yr N/A Multiple
Airline S$200 per yr S$600 Multiple
Entertainment S$17 per mo N/A Multiple
Lifestyle S$400 per yr S$600 Single
Local Dining S$200 per yr N/A Multiple
Overseas Dining S$200 per yr N/A Multiple

With the exception of the entertainment credit, which is awarded based on calendar month, the rest of the credits are awarded based on calendar year. This means that a new cardholder could essentially enjoy two sets of credits in their first membership year, regardless of whether or not they choose to renew their card.

That, together with the sign-up bonus, makes the first year a lot more lucrative. The tougher decision is whether or not to renew from the second year onwards.

Conclusion

The author, looking suitably fashionable

AMEX Platinum Charge cardholders can now enjoy a S$150 annual fashion credit, valid at NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER with no minimum spend.

This may or may not be your cup of tea, but it’s still some free money to spend (MR PORTER does offer free delivery), and if you’re hesitant about buying clothes online, there’s also bags, sunglasses, watches, shoes and bathroom amenities. Think of this as an opportunity to pick up some discounted Aesop, if nothing else!
