Qatar Airways has launched a flash sale out of Singapore for bookings made between 27 and 28 March (sale ends 2359 SGT on 28 March) and travel between 27 March and 6 June 2018.
There are a total of 9 destinations on sale (all economy class only). Most of the destinations are in Europe, although Muscat and Philadelphia make the list. In case you’re planning a trip to Philly, be sure to check out my trip report on the Philly Pho Fare for things to do and see.
You’ll need to book these fares directly on Qatar’s homepage, which you can find here.ย
I have to say I do fancy Thessaloniki at S$899 round trip (although in practice the cheapest I could find was S$929, which is still not bad), given that there are few other options for getting there from Singapore.
Flying Scoot to Athens with a connection on Aegean would cost the same if not more when full costs are taken into account (not to mention the hassle of having to reclaim and recheck your bags- Scoot doesn’t interline out of Changi Airport)
Remember that Qatar Airways has a free stopover package called Plus Qatar that you can take advantage of even if you fly in economy class. This gives you a free night stay in a four or five star hotel, with a second night available for US$100.ย I took advantage of this last time and got a free night at the Westin Doha, although the list of hotels available will be different depending on whether you’re in economy or business class.
Booking a Plus Qatar stopover is simple enough- just use the multi-city booking function when selecting your flights. In this example, I’ve decided to do a 1 night stopover in Doha en route toย Thessaloniki. Remember- on the leg that youย don’tย want to do the stopover, put your departure airport as the first city and Singapore as the second, even though you’re transiting through Doha.
In other words:
Stopover on outbound leg: SIN-DOH-DESTINATION-SIN
Stopover on inbound leg: SIN-DESTINATION-DOH-SIN
You see that the final price comes out to be the same as before, at S$929. Once you’ve made your booking, you can go to the Plus Qatar page to book your hotel separately with your PNR.
A reminder that you can use the following cards to make your purchase on Qatar’s homepage.
