Why earn points with Citibank?

The Citibank PremierMiles card earns 1.2 mpd on local spend and 2.0 mpd on overseas spending. You also enjoy 3, 7 and 10 mpd on bookings made with Expedia, Agoda and Kaligo respectively.

Citibank points do not pool, which is to say that if youโ€™ve accumulated points on the Citi Prestige or Citi Rewards card, those points wonโ€™t be pooled with your Citi PremierMiles Visa and you’ll need to pay a separate conversion fee for each card.

However, Citibank has the widest selection of partner airlines available to any bank in Singapore, which includes some pretty useful FFPs like Etihad Guest, as well as British Airways Avios. Citi Miles do not expire.

How does this compare to other ongoing sign up bonuses?

You can refer to this page to see a summary of all the ongoing sign up bonuses in the market. As of today, the following cards are running a sign up bonus:

  • AMEX KrisFlyer Credit Card: Spend $10K and get up to 31K miles
  • AMEX KrisFlyer Ascend: Spend $20K and get up to 59K miles
Applying for either of the AMEX KrisFlyer cards? Apply through this link and get up to 7.5K bonus miles with just $50 spent after approval, plus a chance to win a further 100K miles in the AMEX x Milelion Million Mile Giveaway. Learn more here.ย
  • Citi Rewards Visa: Spend $3K and get up to 22.8K miles
  • OCBC Titanium Rewards: Spend $300 and get up to 12.8K miles
  • AMEX Rewards Card: Spend $1,500, Get 13,333 miles (first year fee must be paid)

Which offer you ultimately pick depends on how you feel about paying an annual fee and how much you see yourself spending over the next 3 months.

Conclusion

Citibank’s continual extension of this offer may suggest it could be the new business-as-usual scenario, at least until another bank comes out with something more compelling.

30,000 miles would be enough for two people to fly round-trip Economy to Bali, and although that shouldn’t be the height of your ambition in the miles and points game, it’s a decent start.
