CardUp

CardUp extends 1.9% fee on rental payments till June 2020

Pay your rent with CardUp and enjoy a 1.9% payment fee till 30 June 2020.

CardUp is service that lets you pay rental, income tax, condo fees, insurance, car loans and more with your credit card, earning rewards points in the process.

CardUp has been offering a discounted fee of 1.9% (usually: 2.6%) on rental payments since July this year. This offer was originally due to expire on 31 December 2019, but has been extended till 30 June 2020.

To use the offer, enter the promo code SAVERENT19 during the payment setup process.

The full T&C of this promotion can be found here. This promo applies to both Visa and Mastercard cards, but not to AMEX or credit cards issued outside of Singapore.

It’s worth noting that RentHero has also extended their promotion on rental payments until 30 June 2020, and they’re offering a slightly lower 1.85%. However, if this is your first payment with CardUp, you can get S$20 off the admin fee with the promo code MILELION. If you’re going to make a rent payment of S$2,665 or more, it makes more sense to use the MILELION code with CardUp. Otherwise, you’ll save more with RentHero.

Here’s what a 1.9% fee means for your cost per mile with various credit cards.

Q: Does CardUp spending count towards sign up bonuses/promotional bonuses?
A: For most cards, CardUp spending is treated the same way as any other retail spend. However, some banks (SCB X Card, UOB PRVI Miles) have excluded it from the spending requirement to hit sign up bonuses. Always read the T&C carefully for specific exclusions

Q: Do I earn miles on the CardUp fee too?
A: Yes. Suppose you make a payment of $100 with a promotional fee of 1.99%. The total amount charged to your card is $101.99, and you’ll earn miles based on $101.99 of spending

Conclusion

Rental payments continue to be a source of cheap miles in Singapore thanks to these extended promos. If you’re in the market to buy miles and happen to rent a house, this is an option worth considering.

Are cardup payments eligible for UOB ONE 5% quarterly rebate? (5% if your rent payment is exactly $2000 that is).
