What will hotel facilities be like during May?Â
Here’s a couple of important things to take note of, if you’re planning to book this rate. Capitol Kempinski’s saltwater relaxation pool will be under maintenance from 4-14 May 2021. During this period, guests will be able to access alternative pool facilities at the adjacent Eden Residences.Â
That was my experience when I stayed in September last year, and while it’s not without its novelty (you get a buggy ride over, then head up to the penthouse to enjoy its private pool), it’s a much smaller facility than the regular pool.Â
Pool bookings can be made with the front office upon arrival, or 48 hours before arriving via email.
It was also announced previously that gyms will be closed across Singapore from 8-30 May 2021, in line with a temporary return to Phase 2 restrictions. I understand an updated advisory went out last night which allowed for low-intensity physical activities to continue in gyms, but I’ve checked with Kempinski and this doesn’t apply to hotels.Â
Conclusion
This is a good opportunity to snag a stay before hotels start overflowing with the school holiday crowd next month, and even after 21 staycation reviews, the Capitol Kempinski continues to set the standard for me.

Hi, I’m a newly minted GHA Platinum member thanks to AMEX. But i was told by Discovery customer service that I’m not entitled to local experiences for my stays as I did not earn the platinum status on my own accord.
I have to stay a minimum of 10 nights before I can get awarded local experiences. Not sure if anyone else got the same reply from Discovery.
i *think* you earn a LE for your first stay outside your home brand, but i’m not 100% sure. what they might have meant is that while you normally earn a LE for qualifying for platinum, you don’t get it if your qualification was a fast track.
I think he means the local experience for achieving platinum. It is not awarded for achieving by non-stay. You will still get one local experience for every new brand you stay.
