New AMEX Platinum Charge perk: Raffles Prestige membership

Enjoy 2 hours of free parking at Raffles City each day, 2X STAR$ and 25% off F&B at Fairmont with your Raffles Prestige membership.

American Express has added a new perk for its AMEX Platinum Charge members in the form of a Raffles Prestige membership.

This grants special privileges like free parking at Raffles City (no strings attached) and double STAR$, valid for a period of one year. eDMs are currently going out with unique registration codes, so look out for yours. Unfortunately, this perk is only for principal cardholders, so supplementary cardholders won’t get anything.

What is Raffles Prestige?

Raffles Prestige is an invitation-only membership upgrade within the CapitaStar program, granting exclusive perks and privileges at Raffles City Singapore and other CapitaLand malls.

To join Raffles Prestige, you’ll need the special sign-up code sent via eDM and your CapitaStar member ID. Visit this link and activate your membership by 27 July 2021.

Onboarding will take place between 27 July and 16 August 2021, and upon successful registration, you’ll receive a welcome email and in-app notification. Membership is valid for one year from the date of enrollment.

To subsequently requalify for Raffles Prestige, you must spend at least S$25,000 within a membership year at participating retailers in CapitaLand malls. Membership T&Cs can be found here.

What are the benefits of Raffles Prestige?

2 hours free parking

Raffles Prestige members enjoy 2 hours of free parking at Raffles City daily, with no minimum spend required. You’ll need to login to the CapitaStar app and update your vehicle and IU number under the Profile section to enjoy the perk.

If you happen to be an AMEX CapitaCard member who has qualified for free parking in that particular month, the benefit does not stack. You enjoy a maximum of three hours free parking each day, regardless.

2X STAR$

CapitaStar members currently earn 5 STAR$ per S$1 spent at participating CapitaLand Mall merchants, with a minimum S$20 spend.

Guide: Shopping Mall Rewards Programs

Raffles Prestige members will earn 2X the regular rate, or 10 STAR$ per S$1, capped at 30,000 STAR$ per day. An illustration is provided below:

This 2X rate can be enjoyed at the following malls and online platforms:

  • Bedok Mall
  • Bugis Junction
  • Bugis+
  • Bukit Panjang Plaza
  • Clarke Quay
  • Funan
  • IMM
  • JCube
  • Junction 8
  • Lot One
  • Plaza Singapura
  • Raffles City
  • Tampines Mall
  • Westgate
  • eCapitaMall
  • Capita3Eats

ASR Platinum status

Raffles Prestige members are entitled to complimentary ASR Platinum status, which may not mean much to AMEX Platinum Charge members since they’ve already had that perk since September 2019.

That said, ASR Platinum status obtained through the Platinum Charge is valid for two years, so those who signed up early will be approaching the end of their stint soon. In that sense Raffles Prestige is useful, insofar as it gives you an additional year (you may need to register a new account though).

F&B discounts

Raffles Prestige members enjoy 25% off F&B at Anti:dote, Mikuni, Prego, SKAI and Szechuan Court. The discount is valid for dine-in only, and does not apply to set menus or happy hour. Reservations must not be made through third-party platforms like Chope or Quandoo.

On first glance, this may seem like a useless perk given that AMEX Platinum Charge members already enjoy up to 50% off dining at these venues through the Love Dining program. However:

  • Love Dining only covers food, not beverages
  • Love Dining discount is 10% for single diners and 20% for groups of five to ten

This means there will be certain situations where taking the 25% discount makes more sense (plus, you can then use a 4 mpd card to pay the bill).

Conclusion

While Raffles Prestige is ostensibly targeted at Raffles City shoppers, some of its perks (like 2x STAR$) apply island-wide. It’s also a simple way to get two hours of free parking in the CBD each day, no questions asked.

Additional benefits will be listed here as they’re added, so bookmark the page for future reference.

Any new tangible benefit for 1712 is always welcomed 🙂

By the way, I reckon there’s a typo in Capitaland’s illustration – for the amount spent of $3,000 it should be 15,000 STAR$ instead of $5,000.

Long Sim Jong

if you can afford the $1712 card fee, do you really care about $4 per hr parking?

1712

yes, some actually do
