American Express has added another great perk for its Platinum Charge and Centurion members in the form of a S$350/S$1,000 dining credit, redeemable at over 1,000 restaurants in Singapore and 14 other countries.
Registration is required, and the credit must be utilised by the end of 2021.ย
AMEX’s More Value From Platinum
AMEX Platinum Charge and Centurion members can now register for their dining credit via the AMEX Offers portal on the app or online banking. There’s no cap on the maximum registrations, but obviously you’ll want to do so ASAP so you can start spending.ย
Once registered, cardholders will receive S$350/S$1,000 in dining credits that can be spent in one or more transactions at any participating restaurant worldwide, up till 31 December 2021.ย This covers any expense billed at the restaurant, whether it’s drinks, food, service charge or taxes.ย
Here’s the participating list from Singapore.ย

*Love Dining merchant. Only the UOB Plaza location of Si Chuan Dou Hua participates. |
There’s even 38 participating restaurants across Germany- perhaps something for VTL travellers to look forward to!ย
Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date. In my experience, AMEX credits these very fast.ย
Here’s the applicable fine print.ย

I’ve put together a list of FAQs for your reference as well.ย
Can I stack this with Love Dining?
You may have noticed that several of the participating restaurants in Singapore also partner with Love Dining, e.g. SKIRT and Golden Peony.ย
The good news is that you can stack this credit with Love Dining discounts. Remember: all that matters is the nettย amount that ends up getting charged to your card.ย
To illustrate, suppose I dine with a partner at Sen of Japan and we spend a total of S$595 on eligible food items. After the 50% Love Dining discount, service charges and GST, the total amount charged to my card will be S$350.16- more or less a perfect offset.ย
Can I stack this with the JAAN/Violet Oon vouchers?
AMEX Platinum Charge members now receive 2x S$50 Jaan and 2x S$50 Violet Oon vouchers. as part of their welcome gift and annual renewal package.
Frankly, I’m not a fan. These require a minimum of two diners, and only one voucher can be used per visit. It’s a serious downgrade from the previous 4x S$50 St Regis dining vouchers, which had no such restrictions.ย
The silver lining is that this creditย canย be stacked with JAAN/Violet Oon vouchers. The voucher value will be deducted from the overall bill, and the rest charged to the card.ย
Do supplementary cardholders get this credit too?
No, the offer is exclusively for principal cardholders.ย
Do I need to spend the credit all at once?
No, you can spend the credit over multiple transactions; only the first S$350/S$1,000 will be rebated.
For example, an AMEX Platinum Charge member can spend (1) S$300 at Odette and (2) S$200 at Una, and will receive S$300 back on the first transaction, S$50 back on the second.ย
Conclusion
This is a great offer and a nice surprise from American Express, that hopefully helps to cushion a bit more of that hefty S$1,712 annual fee.ย Be sure to register your card ASAP.ย
Any must-try restaurants on this list, either in Singapore or abroad?
Woohoo!
Try Odette. It’s a great experience
if spend it at SKIRT Restaurant/Yan Ting, can this stack with the Marriott’s S$100 Statement Credit Offer?
yes
Still waiting for them to change their dumb signup offer
Side topic, but any news on extensions for the $400 flight credit and/or $400 hotel credit this year? $400 hotel credit I guess can be used on staycations, but the $400 flight credit is impossible to use apart from Germany and a lot of credits will be expiring soon…
You can call up CSO and ask for them to be reinstated. Usually they will do for another 3 months.
Thanks, called them and got them extended to year end
