AMEX adds PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay & Pickering to 10Xcelerator, earn up to 7.8 mpd on dining

American Express has kicked off 2022 by adding PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay and PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering as 10Xcelerator partners, paving the way for AMEX Platinum cardholders to earn up to 7.8 mpd on dining. 

❓ What is 10Xcelerator?

The 10Xcelerator programme, previously known as EXTRA, offers AMEX Platinum cardholders bonus Membership Rewards points at participating merchants. The full T&C can be found here.

Earn up to 7.8 mpd at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay & Pickering

From now till 31 December 2022, the following F&B outlets at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay & Pickering will participate in the 10Xcelerator programme. 

Portman’s Bar also happens to be a Chillax partner, offering a 1-for-1 first drink or complimentary whiskey flight. Be advised, there’s a S$40 minimum spend required for both offers (I was quite certain the S$40 minimum spend only applied to the whiskey flight, but was told otherwise by the staff).

10Xcelerator is only valid for dining in, and does not apply to takeaway, corporate and organised events, MICE and weddings. There’s no blackout for Chinese New Year (or any other period for that matter), so it could be a nice way to earn an upsized rebate on your reunion meals.

How does the 10Xcelerator programme work?

In case you need it, here’s a refresher on how the 10Xcelerator programme works. 

AMEX Platinum Charge cardholders will earn 20 Membership Rewards (MR) points per S$1.60 spent (equivalent to 7.8 mpd) at 10Xcelerator merchants, capped at the first S$16,000 per calendar year. For the avoidance of doubt, the cap is shared by all 10Xcelerator merchants, and there is no separate cap for supplementary cardholders. 

For spending beyond S$16,000, they’ll earn 10 MR points per S$1.60 spent (3.9 mpd), with no cap. 

AMEX Platinum Reserve and AMEX Platinum Credit Card cardholders will earn 10 MR points per S$1.60 spent (3.47 mpd) at 10Xcelerator merchants, without cap. In case you’re wondering why the difference in mpd, it’s because AMEX Platinum Charge cardholders enjoy a special rate of 400 MR points= 250 miles, as opposed to the regular rate of 450 MR points= 250 miles.

Conclusion

AMEX Platinum cardmembers can now look forward to upsized rewards for dining at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay & Pickering. If I were an AMEX Platinum Reserve or AMEX Platinum Credit Card cardholder, however, I’d still default to the HSBC Revolution to earn 4 mpd on dining instead. 

That said, it’s hard to argue with the very excellent 7.8 mpd rate available to AMEX Platinum Charge cardholders!
