UOB has launched a new bonus miles offer for overseas spending on all three versions of the UOB PRVI Miles Card, which runs from now till 31 December 2022. Registered cardholders will earn up to 5 mpd on all in-person overseas spend on dining and shopping.
A minimum spend of S$1,000 and an overall cap of S$4,000 applies for the entire promotion period, which means you can earn up to 10,400 additional bonus miles.
This is more generous than the previous overseas spending offer we saw on the UOB PRVI Miles Mastercard (4.4 mpd), although it should be noted that was applicable to all overseas spend and not just selected categories.

What counts as eligible transactions?
A minimum of S$1,000 must be spent on eligible overseas transactions during the promotion period.

Conclusion
Card Review |
A 5 mpd rate for overseas transactions would make the UOB PRVI Miles Card the highest-earning option in this category. However, there’s a 3.25% FCY fee with all transactions, so some might still prefer to pair the Amaze with the Citi Rewards Card.
A S$1,000 minimum spend applies, but you have two months to hit it. Don’t forget the cap of S$4,000 as well, which applies to the entire promotional period, and the fact that you can only enjoy this bonus on one UOB PRVI Miles Card, no matter how many you hold.
Registration only takes a couple of seconds, so better to get it done sooner rather than later.

Why not pair the Amaze with the PRVI Mastercard though?
because it won’t be in FCY.
*slaps forehead* of course. That’s what I get for commenting before morning coffee.
Cause Amaze converts overseas spending to local. Ans therein lies the problem
if you pair amaze with PRVI then you wonโt get the 5 mpd since pairing it makes it a local online charge not FCY charge
Since the Amaze FX rate is now consistently around 2% from mid, compared to ~1/10th that for other cards (+ the FCY fee of 3.25% in case of PRVI), it now may make sense to use PRVI instead, if you value miles at 1.5c or above, right?
you need to be careful about your comparisons. amaze FX rates are 2% above SPOT, but if you look at MC/Visa rates they’re about 1% higher (iirc). this means the correct figure should be to compare 3.25% to 1%, since UOB PRVI Miles will use MC/Visa rates and not spot.
Thanks a lot Aaron! I thought MC rates had gone down considerably (less so for Visa), to be more like 25bps. At 1% (ie 4.25% all in over mid), itโd need 1.5 more miles per dollar.
So still amaze/Citirewards the better option
