Quandoo offering 200 KrisFlyer miles per reservation

Expired

From now till 28 February 2023, earn 2X the usual KrisFlyer miles for each completed Quandoo reservation in Singapore and overseas.

Singapore Airlines recently launched a partnership with restaurant booking platform Quandoo, which allows KrisFlyer members to earn miles for restaurant reservations at more than 17,000 restaurants across 13 countries worldwide.

The standard offer is 100 KrisFlyer miles per fulfilled reservation, but from now till 28 February 2023, the earn rate is being doubled to 200 KrisFlyer miles.

Earn 200 KrisFlyer miles per Quandoo reservation

Heads up: HDL is on Quandoo

In order to earn KrisFlyer miles via Quandoo, you’ll need to first link your accounts. You can do this by logging into your Quandoo account on your desktop browser and clicking on Profile at the top right of the screen.

Scroll down until you see the Partnerships section. Here’s where you’ll add your KrisFlyer account details.

That’s it! You’ll now earn the upsized 200 KrisFlyer miles per completed restaurant booking. Do note that this is in lieu of the usual 100 Quandoo points; should you wish to switch back to earning Quandoo points, simply unlink your KrisFlyer account.

Quandoo points can normally be redeemed for cashback at a rate of 1,000 points = S$15 (they literally credit money into your bank account), so the opportunity cost during this promotion is 0.75 cents per mile. That’s a lot more reasonable than the usual 1.5 cents you get with the usual 100 KrisFlyer miles.

Moreover, you need a minimum of 1,000 Quandoo points (10 reservations) before you can cash out, while the KrisFlyer miles option lets you cash out after each completed reservation.

๐Ÿด Earning additional Quandoo points
For what it’s worth, you can still earn the usual 25 points for completing a restaurant review post dining, even if you choose to earn KrisFlyer miles.

All KrisFlyer miles earned via Quandoo will be credited to your account within 10 days of dining at the restaurant, with no transfer fees.

Do note that reservations made using the Quandoo widget on a restaurant’s website, on third party websites (including those that are โ€œpowered by Quandooโ€ or โ€œin partnership with Quandooโ€) are not eligible for KrisFlyer miles. In other words, book your reservations via the Quandoo website or mobile app to be safe.

Why Quandoo?

You may remember that KrisFlyer members can also earn 100 KrisPay miles per completed restaurant reservation with Makan+, so outside of this promotion, what’s the draw of Quandoo?

In a word, geographical reach. In addition to Singapore, reservations can be made in:

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Finland
  • Germany
  • Hong Kong
  • Italy
  • Luxembourg
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Switzerland
  • Turkey
  • United Kingdom

This means more opportunities to earn miles, which can never be a bad thing.

What’s the best miles strategy for dining?

You can, of course, stack the miles earned from Quandoo reservations with credit card miles earned from paying the bill. The following cards are your best bet for dining.

Alternatively, you could also use the UOB Preferred Platinum Visa or UOB Visa Signature to earn 4 mpd wherever mobile payments are accepted (subject to meeting a minimum spend of S$1,000 per statement month on the UOB Visa Signature, and provided the restaurant is not a UOB$ merchant).

If the restaurant happens to be a Kris+ merchant, then things get even more exciting because you can earn up to a bonus 9 mpd through the app, plus 4 mpd via credit cards. Refer to this post for more details.

Conclusion

Quandoo is upsizing the miles offered on restaurant reservations till 28 February 2023, with 200 miles available for each completed meal. It’s a modest reward to be sure, but every little bit helps.

Happy CNY feasting!
